Naina My latest school photo has to be my worst. I had major glasses glare. Two eyes were reflected on one of my lens and one eye on the other. Grand total of five eyes ladies and gentlemen (not including the glasses themselves). Additionally, my hair wouldn't cooperate even though it was only first period.

If you could change one thing about yourself what would you change? Emotionally or physically

between the lines I just wish I was more focused and determined to do whatever I set out to do. That or I wish was more confident and sure of myself.

Do you think sex before marriage is wrong if you love that person?

message 2612: by Alexa (last edited Jan 24, 2015 04:24PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Alexa Yes, I am looking through the perspective of a teen girl. I think that sex is no longer considered special and cherished even though it should be. I do however think that marriage is considered special and extraordinary. I see young couples at y high school think they are in love have sex then break up 2 months later. I think that if these young couples thought about marrying they wouldn't have gone and got married then breakup 2 months later. People who are diffidently in love marry, people who think they are in love have sex before marriage. I also think that if you get pregnant before you are married or even consider getting married is lot harder on a relationship than having an unexpected child when you're married. So that is just my young and probably naïve point of view.

Do you think that freedom of speech is dangerous in a democratic society?

message 2613: by Autumn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Autumn No. If everyone is talking, no one actually hears what anybody is saying. People should be able to voice their opinions without the fear of penalty in any form. In Utopian books without freedom of speech, minor rebellions lead to uprising and the entire collapsing of the system. If they can take away our voice, what else would they take? Where would they stop? Why would they? How would we be able to defend ourselves? I think a few hot heads is worth the stability. Small freedoms go a long way.

Do you think the government should be completely honest or should they be able to keep secrets?

message 2614: by Alexa (new) - rated it 5 stars

Alexa I think that the government should be honest. People should be able to decide what they do with their lives based on what is happening in the world and we can't do that if our view of the world is augmented by the governments dishonesty. I also believe that when the government is honest it has to tell the whole truth and also not bend the truth to suit themselves. everyday we hear about Islamic extremists yet we never hear about Christian extremists, that doesn't mean that they don't exist. When an African American is shot we say black, yet when an American is shot we don't say white. Even though the news may be accurate the delivery of it changes how people perceive the news. So yes, the government should be completely and utterly honest with society.

Do you think that the youth are going to one day change the world for the better? or the worse? explain.

message 2615: by Autumn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Autumn I think the youth of today (meaning my age group of 14-18) are more superficial than the generations prior due to the improvements of technology and what not. They -we- aren't as patient. Patience is necessary for long term goals that take time and dedication. The goals that make a difference in ourselves, our community and ultimately the world. That is only a majority of the digital population though, I think the kids with their heads in books are going to take the world farther than those with their eyes on the screen.

Is there such a thing as loving someone else too much?

message 2616: by Jasmine (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jasmine Yes there is such a thing, but that doesn't automatically give it a negative connotation. I think if you love someone too much it means you put them before yourself. No matter what the risks that come along, you're love is infinite. It shows true caring and understanding to love someone too much. And if the other person doesn't love the other person in the same way, the one who loves too much will understand and accept it.

What is your perception of death?

message 2617: by Alexa (new) - rated it 5 stars

Alexa I agree with you AJ,

I think that in every relationship you need to love the other person. However I don't think you should love them so much that you become dependent on them. I think that loving someone should be about wanting to protect them but you can't love them so much that you won't let them cross the street without you. I think that some parent love their kids to much and don't want to let them grow up and move away. I think that some husband or wives love their spouses too much and don't give them enough room to breathe. People who are loved to much feel contained and as if they don't have freedom.

Do you think that pop culture (music, Facebook, movies, T.V shows and even books) are taking away from people abilities to make their own decisions and opinions about the world?

message 2618: by Autumn (last edited Jan 24, 2015 05:34PM) (new) - rated it 4 stars

Autumn Another well made point by Alexa. You are on fire. *-*

I think death is the end of the test that is this life. Like a regents exam, life tells you where you're placed. Heaven, hell or inconclusive and you have to retest(near death experiences).

I think when you hear too many opinions made by other people, you either adapt to their viewpoint and see the world exactly as they do or use their perceptions to explore the world in a different way although, not necessarily disagreeing with them. People are starting to become too dependent on other people's concepts to develop their own opinions and that problem stems from not only public opinion in tangible form but, from within the confides of their household as well. "Teenage rebellion" is a cry from youth to form their own ideas based on the experiences they themselves encounter.

What is the basis for truth? (I argued reality and was slammed down with The Truman's Show)

message 2619: by Alexa (last edited Jan 24, 2015 06:06PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Alexa Okay AJ, you ask a very hard question, I think that the basis of truth it telling people exactly what happens while leaving gout as much bias as possible. Even though I know that everything has a bit of biasness to it we should still make it as pure and to the point as we can. I think that if you are talking about emotions you can use bias language but you should also make sure that what you are saying is what you believe. If you say things to others that you don't believe then you might be putting yourself at risk by lying to yourself. If you lie to yourself enough times you will start to believe the lie.

Do you think that it is good that humans in general live in ruts doing the same thing day in and day out? Or should we be taking risks? By taking risks such as sky diving does that mean we are crazy and have a death wish?

message 2620: by Autumn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Autumn Hmmm...
I think if you don't lead a life worth living you might as well be dead. I read somewhere that a comfort zone is a self constructed trap. People need to step out of confinements in order to grow and improve. People need to set up goals and take risks to get the full experience of life. In Anna Karenina, Countess Vronsky said ,and I'm paraphrasing, I'd rather regret having done it than regret not doing it. If someone feels happy and developed with a stable routine who is to say they are wrong but, when they feel their value diminishing, that's when you take chances. Not necessarily going into dangerous situations but, testing your own limits in order to discover more about yourself.

How are people defined? Do you define people by their actions?

message 2621: by Alexa (new) - rated it 5 stars

Alexa People are defined by their values. morals and ethics. These are the center of every person and is the guideline they use when determining what to say and do. So yes people are defined by their actions but their actions are defined by their morals, values and ethics. Even if you were to talk about religion, all religions are a series of morals, values and ethics that are set out and exemplified by a god or gods.

What is the key to living a good life?

message 2622: by Autumn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Autumn The key to living a good life is to be at peace with yourself and have as few regrets as possible.

Are there consequences for living?

message 2623: by Alexa (new) - rated it 5 stars

Alexa Everyday that we are breathing there are consequences t everything we do. Day in and day out we live with these consequences. Even if all we did we kick a rock the consequence was that the rock moved. Every time we do something we send another ripple through the universe. This ripple may be big or small but it is still there.

If you had to choose between living in a collective society or an individualist society which would you choose? Have in mind that Communism is not true collectivism because there is an individualist leader who is taking advantage of a collective society.
We are just going to the basis... if each society worked the way they were perfectly supposed to work without any corruption which would you choose and why.

message 2624: by Autumn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Autumn I think the collective society sounds more communal and abnegation. I feel like everyone would have to give up things or people they love for the sake of the community. The people may live in harmony, but would they be happy with the choices they were forced to make. Because of this, I would choose an individualistic society, if I weren't so selfish I would choose the collective.

What aspects of human nature are flawed?

between the lines I'm not completely sure if I have interpreted your question right, but here's my answer to what I think is your question..I think we are flawed in the sense that beneath our smiling faces we have calculating minds, because we are ridden with jealousy and envy. We don't appreciate what we have but instead crave things which we don't. To put it simply, we have insatiable hunger for materialistic things.

What is your idea of femisnim? Who would call yourself a feminist? Why or why not?

message 2626: by Sorrel (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sorrel My personal idea of feminism is not, as is commonly thought, that women should be treated better than men or have more rights and options than men, but the same. Feminism, to me, is the defense against gender inequality, whether that be "in favour" for women or men, the pursuit of equal opportunities, respect and rights for both. Yes I think I probably would call myself a feminist because I would not want a man in the same job a woman to get higher pay and equally I would not want it to be the other way round. I also object to the term "ladies first". Not only is it subtly sexist, it's also just patronising.
Do you believe that violence is never acceptable or moral or that in certain circumstances it is the best option?

message 2627: by Autumn (new) - rated it 4 stars

Autumn I personally would never resort to physical violence. But, in certain scenarios, such as the threat against a loved one, I can see why someone else might pick up the sword instead of the pen. In highly emotional times, people tend to not think clearly leaning toward whatever seems to bring about the most favorable outcome. Haste makes waste. I'm sure if people thought clearly during high-stake times, they would find better ways to reach a favorable outcome than violence.

What is your favorite poem and why?

message 2628: by Alexa (last edited Jan 25, 2015 12:24PM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Alexa My favourite poem is Lost Generation by Jonathan Reed because it holds facts and theories on how the world will be in the future and is now. I also appreciate how technically advanced this poem is. It is a palindrome which means if I is read from top to bottom it means one thing but if it is read from bottom to top it means the opposite. This poem inspired me to write my own palindrome which I entered in a poetry contest.
