sorry to be thick, but how do I find out my Kindle email a/c?"

Glad someone else is a thick as me.

Tim | 8539 comments Kath wrote: "i dont think you have one if you dont have a kindle"

All my kindle apps as well as my paperwhite have their own email address. It doesn't matter which one you email the books to, it'll be archived on all of them.

If you just "open attachment in kindle app" on your pc/tablet, they will be stuck on that device and won't transfer to any other.

I believe you have to also set the email address you'll be sending from, since amazon will only accept docs from accounts you've "authorised".

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments nothing like a bunch of men repeating females instructions in threads to make you feel STUPID.

Tim | 8539 comments Pardon me for trying to be helpful. I shan't do it again.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments oh grief. behave children. ;-) Peanut, its much better to have lots of helpful advice than none, right???

Simon (Highwayman) (highwayman) | 4276 comments Hi all,

Everyone who has asked for the free books should now have received them by email.

If you haven't please PM me. Make sure you tell me your email address.

message 65: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I'd just like to say I've read the first of mine - I had already read five. I've just finished The 24 Hour Jazz Cafe by Jamie Sinclair.
Review here http://ignitebooks.blogspot.co.uk/201...
It's a great story and covers some universal themes. Jamie has a great line in sleazy Councillors!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I hope you've sent them to Janet, Simon!

message 67: by Marc (new)

Marc Nash (sulci) | 4313 comments Yay thanks guys, the 'open with' option on my Mac seems to have worked. On that drop down menu I notice Calibre is set as the default app so that;'s why it always opened there. Not sure how to make Kindle the default, but it doesn't matter since I can just drop down & click on kindle app.

Thanks again all.

Marc x

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments Would be far easier to go into the Kindle app and add them there (via the menu and picking the folder out) then just opening the app in future

I can't seem to do that though. Maybe something to do with it being an app for a Mac?

You can't. From amazon's Kindle for Mac page: "Most books available for reading on Amazon Kindle can also be read on Kindle for Mac. Periodicals such as newspapers, magazines, and blogs, and personal documents cannot be viewed on Kindle for Mac."

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Well that's just silly.

Someone should write a strongly worded letter.

They don't seem to be able to get it into their thick heads that they need to provide a consistent experience across devices and platforms. The Mac app supports Collections but not documents or X-Ray; The iPad app supports documents and X-Ray but not Collections, Mac has a cloud-only view, the others don't, and so on All it does is confuse and frustrate.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I spent ages trying to find the book I was reading in Faro on my phone app so I could sneak a few paragraphs and never did find it in my archive.

Elle (louiselesley) | 6579 comments That is quite possibly the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Wtf, actually?!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Louise-Lesley (Elle) wrote: "That is quite possibly the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Wtf, actually?!"

What???

I've said MUCH stupider things, Peanut.

;)

I adore you, Patti. I really do.

message 79: by A.L. (new)

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 1608 comments Hmm I need to put these on my kindle. I can email them to my kindle email yes?

message 80: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Yes. From your email from Simon, you can download into your computer then email them as attachments to your kindle email.

message 81: by A.L. (new)

A.L. Butcher (alb2012) | 1608 comments Ok will do:)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I just forward books directly from my email to my kindle email address.

Just remove what ever is in the subject line of the email and put in the word convert.

message 83: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments I don't even do that. I always get asked if I'm sure I want to send an email with no subject and no body text. I am.

If you sent Simon a private message and included your email address within the required timeframe, yep.

Send him another pm. Your last one will appear as well. :)

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments If he's tardy, let me know. I'll sort you out Mary.

message 87: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Have just done exactly that! My e-mail lost it a bit over Christmas so I suspect he tried and they bounced.

Cheers

MTM

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments I hope things are calmer for you now, lovely.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Love how you were so quick to qualify that.

We believe you. Yeah. McMini. Riiiiight....

message 94: by M.T. (new)

M.T. McGuire (mtmcguire) | 8051 comments Mwah ha hahargh! Iron Man? Pah! I'd be more inclined towards the 9th Dr Who.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Someone prop up Mary. She's leaning over again.

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments I prefer Iron Man myself. Matt Smith is too young and enthusiastic.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments No such thing as 'too young and enthusiastic'

Mmmmmm

& a Blackburn fan. Smiley

Gingerlily - The Full Wild | 34228 comments Oh hang on, which one was the 9th Doctor. Matt Smith is the 11th!

Christopher Ecclestone is the one she was talking about. He's a bit older. I prefer David Tennant though.
