They are different editions of the same book, yes. I see no reason to merge them.

No. What you did was combine the editions that had been deliberately separated for merging. Which makes more work, not less.
Working on fixing now.

They have different covers - we do not delete books with different covers

Can you delete my book, Love Gone Viral, http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16...? It has been replaced by a new edition with a new title and new isbn (How to Screw Up Your Marriage is the new, correct book). I am the author. If there was a different way for me to do this myself, I apologize. Thank you!

The first entry of the two that are to be merged formerly had the ISBN-13 of the Ullstein paperback edition while the second entry had the ISBN-10 of the same. I already moved the ISBN-13 to the second entry since this has more information on publishing date and publisher so that the ISBN wouldn't be deleted and to make sure such a double entry wouldn't happen again.
And here is the proof directly from the publisher that my request was valid:

Please help! I'm a debut author with my MG novel THIS JOURNAL BELONGS TO RATCHET coming out in April. I just checked my dashboard today and saw another book listed as mine. It is called JUMP/DRIVE. I would like to have it deleted as soon as possible. How do I make that happen.

Re: 389, there was a lot of pre-publication interest in this book, so it seems more useful to add a note to it explaining the non-publication.

Okay, I looked into it further and the 'bad' edition did originally have the paperback cover, so I agree they should be merged. Done!
