Hi Samantha,

"The Great Promise" is my first book and it is based on my grandfather's memoirs of World War One. He served with the British Royal Field Artillery and prior to his first battle he made a promise with three friends. Out of the four, only my grandfather survived and he failed to fulfill his promise. His war journal offered me the opportunity to attempt to keep his commitment that was made so long ago. The compelling journal entries transcend the reader beyond the normal historical depiction of the Great War by transporting them into the trenches through the experiences of one man who survived while millions of others perished.

'Nothing you can do' has been well received by book and writing groups here in Cambridge but so far I've not been able to persuade someone to put up a Kindle review.

In an effort to get the book moving it's free for 5 days starting 25th July (tomorrow!!).

The book's about coping with a dying parent and the way we go about handling a death in the family in the 21st century.

It's a tough read in places, occasionally humorous and ultimately worth your time.
It would be great to get some feedback from you if you're still reviewing.

SYNOPSIS
Anna Tate is an anti-social seventeen year old who has always lived to please her cruel and abusive mother. When Anna’s mother sends her to live with her estranged grandfather leaving the only home she has ever known she is forced to confront who she is without the influence of her mother. Anna is befriended by the handsome and taken next door neighbor. She clings to him for emotional support and inevitably falls in love but soon becomes lost and desperate when he does not return her love.

Anna’s life becomes a journey of love, obsession, unrequited emotions and self-discovery as she is forced to choose between a boy that reminds her of home and the unrequited love she's always known and her true love, the one she’s carried in her heart for four years. If she takes the chance on true love she could lose the one thing that has reminded her that life is worth living, his heart.

A Love story is not always about falling in love, or falling out of love sometimes it's about learning how to love. Sometimes learning to love is half the battle.
