So how's the year working out for you?

Despite 2021 being a better year (so far, overall) than 2020, my reading goals did better last year. Anyone else noticing yourself reading less because we aren't all locked up at home?

I have been reading, though. I pretty much read the same amount every year regardless of circumstances. What changes is what I am reading. I've mostly been reading romances and thrillers. No classics.

Edingus = 11 of 12 (92%)
Shelving Unit (Kindle Unlimited (ku) = 14 of 20 (70%)
Hot off the Presses 2021 = 13 of 10 (130%) woohoo!
Yearbook 2020 = 13 of 10
Back in the Saddle = 1 of 6 (17%)
Serial Eyes = 31 of 15 (207%)
Where's Your Card Digital/Print Library = 47 of 30 (157%)
Hear Ye! Hear Ye! = 1 of 10 (10%)
Home Alone = 0 of10
That's Unreal Historical Fiction = 15 of 15 (100%)
Well, overall, not so great, but not terrible. There's always next year to become more realistic. We'll see about that.

Not too bad. Looks as though you got a lot of reading done, just didn't always guess where the books were going to land.
I am working on building next year's challenge catalog. Should be done by Monday. Hope to see you try again!

Hey, everyone!
The 2022 Challenge Catalog is finished.
Let me know if you find any errors, or need a new challenge posted.
See you in a couple of weeks for your final check-in!

Thanks as always for putting together the Catalogue, Almeta. I will check it out soon and maybe pick some fun new stuff for the coming year.

FYI, the reason I'm asking is because I have to complete a captcha for every time I submit a review. Am I the only one? The part that really really gets me is when I have to post a review multiple times because goodreads didn't save it correctly and I have to captcha each and every time.

You can submit a form at:

Unfortunately the Feedback Group was dissolved.

Hope 2022 is better for you, and everyone!

Good time for a check-in. Think I'll go look also!

I thinking that I am pretty much on target.
I found that where I look as though I am falling behind, I had just forgotten to shelve properly.
So I had some "clean up" to do. Glad I did it now instead of waiting 'til the end of the year.

Happy New Year
We meet again!
I did pretty good this year. only came up zero with reading Donald E. Westlake. (2022 Authorization). Probably because I listen to audio and a lot of the remaining Westlake catalog is in paper.

I have created the usual challenges for 2023. Let me know if you have an idea for another challenge that you would like to try..
I will get to making the catalog in the next couple of days.
Good Reading in 2023.

Thank you as always, Almeta, for putting together the catalogue.
I actually completed all my challenges for 2022! That is the first time that's happened in a while. And now I have to decide if I want to participate in 2023. These challenges have become my favorite part of Goodreads. I am actually considering migrating to another site, which is why I'm not sure if I'll participate this year.
But best of luck to everyone and happy reading!

Glad that you are still hanging on. There aren't many of us but I do find that the challenges keep me somewhat focused.
I have withdrawn from some of the challenges that I participated in previously. Many weren't really a challenge for me anymore. i.e. I get all my reads from libraries now, and almost exclusively borrow them in audio. So Where's Your Card or Hear Ye are no longer a challenge.
Hope you find some Good Reads in 2023.

I hope you will join us, if you stick with GoodReads.
If you find another application to use, I'd be interested in hearing about it. I am very disappointed in the new GoodReads format. I'm sure it is a good marketing tool for Amazon but it is a functional disaster for readers. I have yet to find a way to track the correct editions without cumbersome maneuvers!

This year's focus went waaay away from my original January thoughts.. And on review, I am not concerned about it. I got involved in several challenges. They were fun but I put a lot of pressure on myself to complete them. I plan to slow down in 2024.
I joined GoodReads in 2011. Since those early days I have changed my reading habits a lot, and my goals have narrowed down a lot.
I no longer need to track how many audiobooks I listen to, I do that almost exclusively now. I don't challenge myself to borrow books; now I rarely buy one. Interesting group challenges have greatly expanded my willingness to try a range of genres. And the group challenges I do choose usually have intriguing themes.
I still want to set some of these catalog challenges to keep me on track, and you will find I will be using less of them!

Well,
5/5 for Shelving Unit (poetry)
8/5 for Hot Off the Press
6/5 for Rosetta Stone
but only 2/5 for Now that was Classic.
So that will be my only goal for this year. Look like everyone got a lot of reading done in 2020!
