*grin* Proof that goal setting is a motivating factor?

Purple Iris (purpleiris) | 61 comments Great job, Elizabeth!

I only have one challenge this year -- Rosetta Stone -- since I've been unable to complete it the past two years.

Of course now I'm 9 books ahead of schedule. (19/35) Hopefully I can keep it up!

Focus helps! You can do it.

Elizabeth S (esorenson) | 105 comments Purple, it is always better to be ahead. That way if Life Happens later in the year you can still reach the finish line. Way to go!

Y'all are looking good on your goals. Most of my other goals in life are things like doing-laundry-before-the-clean-clothes-run-out. Reading goals are much more enjoyable.

message 211: by Purple (new)

Purple Iris (purpleiris) | 61 comments Very true, because we all know Life will Happen!

I find reading goals more enjoyable and more attainable than other life goals. :)

Being way ahead on Doorstops is quite an accomplishment. I let myself be intimidated by large books.

As for Boxall, I find that I read some books that I didn't even know were on the Boxall list. You might check when you read a book just to see. (I imagine Guardian is the same.)

Still a lot more time left!

Elizabeth S (esorenson) | 105 comments We are half-way through the year. How is everyone doing?

I've finished two of my challenges, which is uncommon for me. Usually I try to pace them all evenly. And I'm mostly on track for my other challenges, so moving along pretty well.

message 216: by Purple (new)

Purple Iris (purpleiris) | 61 comments Half way already? I only have one challenge this year and it continues to go well.

Hey everybody, time to start wrapping things up.

Can you believe that 2018 is almost over?

I wonder in which challenge am I falling behind? Hint. Hint.

message 218: by Elizabeth S (new)

Elizabeth S (esorenson) | 105 comments Usually I pace myself to finish all challenges in the last few weeks of the year. This year has been a bit different. I'm done with 3 of my 7 goals. I should finish another 2 early this month. Then hope to finish my last 2 before the clock runs out.

message 219: by Almeta (new)

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 381 comments Mod
I'm focusing on one particular challenge for the remainder of the year which has 32 books to go. It is going to be tough. Had I concentrated earlier, I probably could have breezed through it!

Elizabeth S (esorenson) | 105 comments If all else fails, run out and buy some really short books.

I beginning to think that if we had leftovers, then it was for a reason. Maybe we just will never feel like reading them?☻

Janice (jamasc) | 64 comments Almeta wrote: "I beginning to think that if we had leftovers, then it was for a reason. Maybe we just will never feel like reading them?☻ .."

I started doing the leftovers from the YLTO annual challenges. They were tasks I never got around to. But, I still have books from the Geocache challenge, and last year's All About You challenge on the Leftover Stew list.

This year, I'm more focused on reading the books I own. Many of the leftovers are books on my wishlist, so they are a low priority. I think I'll wipe the slate clean and just put the unfinished Zany Zodiac tasks on it. As of right now, I have 36 books that could potentially find themselves to the Leftover Stew challenge in 2019.
