Julie | 465 comments Hi Bill!

"My feeling is the unconscious works very like those spring loaded plates in a cafeteria. Only when you lift the one on top does the one beneath come into view."

I believe this statement completely. It's actually what I've been feeling lately but unable to verbalize. :)

Thanks!

Julie | 465 comments I couldn't agree more!

The longer the break, the longer it takes me to get back into the story. Part of it, for me at least, is because you don't always feel the same way when you pick back up where you left off. It can be difficult to find that same mood.

Paul Yes, it can be difficult maintaining a constant tone from day to day. I sometimes find that on successive days I am writing minimalist, sparse prose; post-modernism; almost baroque passages.

I think some of this stems from what you're reading. It is probably not a good idea to read anyone else's work when you're in the process of creating your own.

Or maybe that's just me.
