Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments can I reserve S for name in the title - i'm reading The Life of Dr. Samuel A. Mudd: Containing His Letters from Fort Jefferson, Dry Tortugas Island right now - its a bio of his life post Lincoln assassination written by his daughter (assuming this meets the name requirements)

I would say it does, Dee, as he is the main character, but could you have picked a longer title, lol. BTW - it looks interesting. How was it?

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments Only a couple of chapters in - one long very dry one that is his lawyers speech on why he was not guilty - I've driven past the turn off for the house every day for 3 years but not growing up in the us didn't know the significance

Amy | 2241 comments I'd like to reserve L in Title for Locomotion

Also have a question for name in title. I have to read a picture book for the Nellie Bly challenge. Would Harold and the Purple Crayon qualify for name in title "H" or is the book too short?

Well, in the battle plan thread under Scripts Tower, it says no page limitations/editions. I would take that to mean that picture books count, but I would send this question to Tien for the final blessing. :)

Coralie, I'm interested what of VV's you're planning to read. I have Rainbow's End on my list for sometime.

message 111: by Dee (new)

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments although, Tien - quick question - with the authors, if they are a co-author - does it work as long as their name is on the cover?

message 112: by Amy (new)

Amy | 2241 comments Another question...would Harold and the Purple Crayon work for character name H? I know it is a picture book and quite short, but I have to read it for Nellie Bly and wondered if it would work here too.

I am rereading (I have read and enjoyed all of his) A Deepness in the Sky which is very different from Rainbows End

Amanda McDowell Hey, I know I didn't reserve it, but I just finished Passing by Nella Larsen, and I'd like to apply it to Author Last Name L. I need to report this on the report thread, too, right? After I know for sure that I didn't make some silly mistake and the slot is already taken?

message 115: by D.G. (new)

D.G. | 1370 comments Jane - If you don't see it reserved here and nobody has shot at the block, you can definitely use it. You must post it in the Report thread though. :)

Co-authors are fine -so long as they both work on the same story. I think that's what co-authors mean anyway but just to make it clear :)

Yup, these two ladies were co-authors for the first 4 or 5 books in a series.

In my quest to get my IOU, I'll reserve U last name then, unless Dee wants it (as she remember that author and I didn't!)

Lynn - I think I have my maximum number of reserves so you may unreserve S "Last Name' and move my reservation to U.

OK, we have a bit of an issue here. Sam posted to reserve last name J yesterday (see post 123) and you posted in the reporting thread, but I think her post predates yours. I wasn't here yesterday, so I did not get the reservation posted. How do you all want to handle this?

Sam - Can your book be used for something else?

Dee (austhokie) | 2695 comments i didn't look at the posts, just at the main tracker - I can't use mine anywhere else - its an ebook only, so can't use page count; doesn't fit any shelves; and the authors others were all used up - but if sam wants it i'll just not use it

I asked to be removed when we had to use a name that we would call a kid (I definitely wouldn't call my child Quijote) but as that isn't the criteria anymore, it's fine to keep me there.

Thanks Susan. If you are talking about my post in the very beginning for R, I deleted that as I was not going to get to the book I had listed for a while. Then Vi asked for R in post #137, which was after I had posted the list, so it wasn't reflected.
As for Q, the last impression I had gotten from D.G. was to leave her after the rules had been changed.
