Hi Robin - thanks for all that! Even I had forgotten that question.I like this group, even if it's as quiet as the grave - but never dead, oh no, you can't ever assume that...
I was just watching Jess Franco's 1973 film Female Vampire (a.k.a. The Bare-Breasted Countess) which is arguably sexploitation (although actress and director lived together for years and eventually got married) but for all that it's a lovely vampire tale. The Countess is lonely in her immortality, hungry for love, but her basic need to feed and kill is too strong for the intimacy she craves.
Recently I managed to survive through to the end of Breaking Dawn - Part 1. Maybe one day I'll get to the end...
Why bother, Francis? Just to say you read it? I never got past the second book, although I did read the sneak preview of the third because it was at the end of the second. Besides the series being an editor's nightmare, I could never fathom Bella. She narrates as if she can read everyone's mind, even though she isn't supposed to have that ability. I'm not sure what she thinks she shares with Edward, since although she wants to be turned by him and live forever and she's throwing herself at him, she doesn't want to marry him. Plot details that never happened in the first book get discussed in the second as if they did. You really want to put yourself through that? Even if you're a masochist, I think it's the wrong kind of pain; the only horror in it is that it was published in the first place, and the only excellent thing I could see about it was the appearance of the original covers--which they had to ruin in the paperbacks, which showed Edward in that stupid makeup that doesn't even match what Meyers described. But regarding this group: Of course it isn't dead. It's UNdead.
I don't know if I mentioned I'm going to be writing some blog posts based on what I learned from the writer's conference. If I said this already, I beg your pardon. Can't remember what I've said to whom.
I just got back from a camping trip and returned with many bites from real vampires... the tiny, winged kind. I wish our campground had been filled with mosquito-eating bats. Which reminds me of a time when some of those cute critters came flapping above the pool where I used to live. Just one or two, and these overweight teenage girls climbed out of the pool and ran off screaming that they didn't want any vampires, that they were with Team Jacob all the way. I tried to reason with them that these bats EAT vampires, because they eat mosquitoes that prey on human blood, but they wouldn't listen. They probably wouldn't be my readers, anyway.
No, no, I'm watching the films, not reading the books. I thought about trying to read them, and read a couple of pages, but gave up very quickly for some reason (I forget).I love bats. I love watching the way they fly. Although I wouldn't want to be around a swarm of hungry vampire bats. Have you ever read Nightwing?
I have not. Is it scary? I have never been afraid of bats, but I also like the way they fly. They look as if they ARE bats--so all over the place. My daughter saw one crash into an apartment building. I was very recently told that vampire bats don't go for humans.
Martin Cruz Smith is an excellent author. I can't remember how scary it was, but he's a thriller writer rather than a horror writer.
Hello, My name is Linda and I've recently had a book published about vampires, not the sparkle kind. I usually write paranormal romance that contains vampires but this is my first try at New Adult. Forbidden: The Brethren of ErebusWould love to give a eBook copy to anyone who would like to read it. If interested, let me know.
L.M. wrote: "Hello, My name is Linda and I've recently had a book published about vampires, not the sparkle kind. I usually write paranormal romance that contains vampires but this is my first try at New Adult...."lol. It should be.

Hello everyone,My name is Sentu and I would like to introduce book 1 of my "GANGPIRE" Trilogy. This book is not for the faint of heart and reader's discretion is advised, lol. But if you want to read about a brother’s love that drives him to become a vampire to avenge his sister's murder, then this book is for you. GANGPIRE has it all, and some.
Thank you for letting me join your awesome group :)
Francis wrote: "Welcome. Good luck with sales, etc.!"Thank you Francis. Truly appreciate your welcome.
Hello everyone! I found your group through the Facebook group "Vampires with Bite." I am a fairly new author who just got her first book of her vampire series, "War of Destiny: Lost Soul" published through Amazon this past May. It is for readers 13 and up and follows a young woman as she discovers her destiny as a vampire.
Thank you for letting me join your group.
Paul & Theresa: Hi, & Welcome! This is a quiet group, but conversations do spark up from time to time, and both readers and writers are welcome.
I like vampires and have written some erotic bits and pieces. If you like lesbian vampire erotica you may find this entertaining:http://alinameridon.wordpress.com/201...
I have to say: As a reader, I am very reluctant to buy anything less than 10,000 words, but clearly there is a market for it.
I'm not sure there's much of a market for lesbian erotica, however, and writing with a distinctively male name adds an additional handicap.
Hello Paul, and thanks for the welcome Francis! Sometimes a quieter group is a good thing, I get lost sometimes trying to keep up with some of the bigger groups. :)I think there is a niche for just about every type of writing. It's just that reaching the readers who would enjoy your work can be the difficult part.
Lol, Paul. I usually don't look at my sales much. I'm too busy trying to figure out when I should talk about Kindle promotions, or what to put in my blog. I'm open to suggestions and/or advice.
Hello, my name is Nadine. I'm not sure how to say it well, so I just gonna say it. I'M ABSOLUTELY OBSESSED WITH VAMPIRES!! My dad told me when I was around 5 years old Bela Lugosi was my favorite actor. On Sesame Street The Count was always my favorite. However, I suck at math because it's almost like he mesmerized me, so I never learned anything. The original Lost Boys is one of my favorite movies and two of my favorite authors are Anne Rice and Lara Adrian. Respectively the writers of The Vampire Chronicles and The Midnight Breed Series. I even have a story in my head that I am wanting to write about Vampires which will probably be at least a trilogy once written....

But I hated it even more after the second reading. I don't think that Twilight fans are real vampire fans, if they read the stories about what a real vampire is supposed to be, they would probably be scared sh*tless.
(Not sure if I'm allowed to cuss in here so I kept it clean just in case).
Twilight is classic teen romance with an element of forbidden danger, and 50 Shades of Grey just swaps pseudo-vampires for pseudo-BDSM billionaires...
Kade CookHi everyone, I am a author of a new book that introduces a different way to look at vampires. I have been a great lover of them since I can remember, thanks to Anne Rice and was seduced by the interview with a vampire without a hope of ever returning to normal reading habits. I found this group today in the hopes of finding some new books to read and to maybe share my story with some of you. Happy Saturday to you all and I look forward to speaking with you in the coming future. Cheers, Kade

I own the series, but it wasn't what I thought it would be per se.

Quiet is still good :) And thank you.

I read it this summer and I really enjoyed it. I haven't had a chance to read Cassandra Clare at all I also haven't read Vampire academy yet. I plan on reading both, just haven't had a chance yet. Have you read the rest of Anne Rice's Vampire Chronicles? It's worth it, she is one of my favorite authors. Another one of my favorite authors is Lara Adrian. She is the author of the Midnight Breed Series. I will need to take time to think about some more for right now.
