I agree. (view spoiler)

Greta (goodreadsgreta) | 4545 comments Samia, he killed himself! Holder didn't do it!

Sara Samia, he pulled the gun out from behind the couch and shot himself after reporting it on his radio. Holder never had a gun.

ok, seems like i got it wrong. but still, nothing suggested that sky's father was suicidal, or remorseful for what he had done. i kind of have a general problem with the scene. I know why Collen wrote it like that, to show that he was not completely evil, but still, people generally don't do 180 of their characters.

message 55: by Sara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sara Nope. Just took what he decided was the easy way out. Guilty people do that sometimes. He was sick.

Greta (goodreadsgreta) | 4545 comments I think he did it, because he now had two people he confessed to. ..two witnesses so to speak.

I didnt really have a problem with it, because of he hadn't have died I'm sure the aunt would have gone to prison.

message 57: by Sara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sara I don't think a lot of people like the father feel remorse because it is a sick illness. He tried to play it down with Sky and make it sound not as bad, but we know it was worse than ever. I am sure he touched Les way more than once, just like with Sky and the aunt. He was a liar who thought he was untouchable.

Greta (goodreadsgreta) | 4545 comments So you agree with me, he was primarily motivated to commit suicide because he didn't want to be caught?

message 59: by Sara (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sara Yes. Not sorry for his actions just sorry he got caught and the truth can come out now. Knows it's wrong but he just don't care

Novel (velsanchez1) | 2886 comments I agree with Sara. He's not sorry at all! He saw suicide as an easy way out.

Yep. It is so sad that people have these psychological disorders that there is just no way to fix. The mind can be a dangerous thing. And people that feel no remorse can be the scariest.

I absolutely wanted him to know that he had destroyed Les's life after hearing him justify the "one time" to Sky and Holder but i think Colleen wrote this book so perfectly there isn't an angle i can see where he could be punished without it having a run on effect. So despite feeling he got away too easily i cant fault it.

I'm sure what he did to Les isn't just one time... He said he only raped Karen and Hope once but it wasn't true right? I have to agree with you though, should John stay alive all of their lives will be more complicated. Karen might end up in jail, Sky will suffer the stigma of being a physically abused kid... and John, well he is a police officer, he can get away with it again if he wants to...

Jonababez | 2453 comments I'm reading it! I'm on page 89, says my ereader. :)
I'm a bit not into it. I love Slammed and I think it is way so much better than this. But I'm loving Holder, he reminds me of Lucas in some ways. :)

Jonababez | 2453 comments Holder makes me love this book!!!

If I remember correctly, her father killed himself. I don't think it was out of remorse though; I think it was from getting caught and being a cop, he knew the consequences! I think he just knew that might be his only way out of worse: a living hell!

Greta (goodreadsgreta) | 4545 comments Exactly so, Vicky.

message 86: by Marie (new) - added it

Marie | 257 comments I've read this book a few weeks ago but read is a strong word. I read it really fast ans skip parts because I really didn't like how the author decided to deal with the themes and don't hate me for saying it (please! :)) but it felt often way too corny for my tastes allowing for the fact that the theme of ht ebook was such an heavy one. Still, I have Slammed on my shelf and I still look forward reading it.

Mishma Sarah,Ritu and I going to read Hopeless on the 16th of April.Feel free to join us.

9% so I was wondering why anyone would call their child 'six', then it turns out that they actually called her 'Seven Marie', and she changed it to six to annoy them. Still, who calls their kid Seven? And why do I never meet anyone in real life with such a grooovy name?

I kinda like it so far. Interested to see where this relationship is going. I'm worried that there won't be a happy ending though.
