The ISBN for my edition doesn't exist in the goodreads database

That is not a valid ISBN. Valid ISBNs have 10 digits (or 13 if they're new, but not one from 1971). The 95 at the end is the price, and it may have a dropped leading 0.

I think you're right. That is how the ISBN is printed (on the binding) of this edition though.. odd that they'd drop a leading zero and the trailing X. Unfortunately the ISBN isn't printed anywhere else in the book that I can find.
