Just finished Annie's Ghosts by Steven Luxenberg and The Silver Ghost by Charlotte MacLeod, neither of which were about ghosts, followed by The Library Paradox by Catherine Shaw. I am currently reading "The African Queen" by C.S. Forester (how I loved the movie and so far the book is very similar) to be followed by The Gnostic Mystery, another review copy that just arrived.

I just finished Can You Keep a Secret. I usually don't read this genre, but it was actually pretty good.
Finished the African Queen, great book, so close to the movie. Now 1/2 way through The Gnostic Mystery but just beginning to get into it; first part is discovery and history. Will be away for about 2 weeks starting in about a week, so not sure what I'll be reading next.
I'm finally finishing "A Curse Dark As Gold" by Elizabeth C. Bunce and will then read "American Rust" by Philipp Meyer.
Just finished the Subtle Knife and now I am reading Something Borrowed. So far I agree with Dottie's assessment - very high school drama-ish.
Currently reading Global Mind Shift by Edmund J. Bourne and am fascinated by it and the worldview it talks about. Also reading A Thousand Days in Tuscany again, which I love for its lyrical writing, the description of the Tuscan countryside, and of course the amazing food they eat (complete with a few recipes!).
On my last few pages of The Gnostic Mystery. Just about to start Garden Spells by Sarah Addison Allen.
I finished, "A Curse Dark As Gold" by Elizabeth C. Bunce...a really good story set in the 1700's based on the Rumplestiltskin fairy tale only with a twist. It is one of the winners of the '2009 Kansas Notable Books'. I'm starting "Witch Child" by Celia Rees, a fiction story set during the Salem Witch trials. Give me a good witch/witch trial story anytime! I had an ancestor tried for witchcraft in 1657-1658 in Hartford, CT...a few years before the famous Salem trials so these always intrigue me. She was aquitted so I'm guessing, her then husband, or she, had the money to pay for her release....fortunately for me today...:> So far, the best fiction witchraft trial story I've ever read is "The Heretic's Daughter" by Kathleen Kent, based on her ancestor's witchcraft trial in Salem. I highly recommend this one if you want an accurate picture of what life was like for these poor women (and men) that had to endure the cruel superstitious stupidity during those times.
I finished Something Borrowed and now I am reading Admission another ARC. I've only read a few chapters, but so far I am enjoying it.
I am reading Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. Very funny. Also reading Guernsey Sweet Potato Pie... at the same time - like to have 2 books going at once and these are oh so different!!!
I just finished "Relentless" by Dean Koontz and am finishing up "Witch Child" by Celia Rees. I'll probably try "Roadside Crosses" by Jeffery Deaver & "The Reformed Vampire Support Group" by Catherine Jinx next.
I'm reading Billy Budd. There are so many of the classics that I either missed or were not interested in when I was in school. Now I'm old enough to appreciate them a little more.
Shirley wrote: "Angie wrote: "Shirley wrote: "I am reading Eclipse now, 3rd book of the Twilight Saga - Angie you are sooooo right about the pacing. New Moon was much better than Twilight and I raced through that..."Shirley - I'm so sorry for the late reply. I'm glad you liked the Twilight series. There is something about them (for all the criticism I have for them) I totally gravitate to the story.
I have also read the Pullen's series. They were great adventure stories. I love Lyra! I think she is spunky. I'm sure by this time you've probably already finished them. Did you like them?
I still have some lingering questions over the controversy surrounding those books. I couldn't really decide what the author was getting at in regards to religion. Maybe you picked up on something.
Thoughts?
I just read THE LAST QUEEN by C.W.Gortner and I really enjoyed it. My next book is FINGER LICKIN' FIFTEEN by Janet Evanovich.Lorraine
I am currently reading the Family Bones by Kimberly Raiser. She is a goodreads author and I got the book from her for free :)
Angie wrote: "Shirley wrote: "Angie wrote: "Shirley wrote: "I am reading Eclipse now, 3rd book of the Twilight Saga - Angie you are sooooo right about the pacing. But like you, I was having trouble figuring out what the issues were with the Catholic Church. I didn't see any problems with the first two books. As I start this one, I am beginning to sense some of the issues. I will let you know my opinion when I finish. As of this moment, I think the whole controversy was very overrated and probably only contributed to more people seeing the Golden Compass than ordinarily would have.
right now - Fingerprints of the gods and talismans: sacred cities... by graham hancock as well as east of eden by steinbeck (just finished).
Finished "Intervention" by Robin Cook...don't know what I think of that one yet. Hmmm...Started "206 Bones" by Kathy Reichs & am trying "Dead Until Dead" by Charlaine Harris.
Currently reading "The Sky Rained Heroes" by Frederick E. LaCroix. Still struggling through "The Prodigal Tongue"... not the book's fault, not enough time this summer, but I'm whittling it down gradually!
I just got done with

The Prisoner and will next be reading
Princess of the Midnight Ball, that is as soon as I stop by the library to pick it up.
Just finished J.G. Sandom's "The God Machine", now have a few lightweight cozies I want to warm up with (snow, hot chocolate, and wood fire burning!) Heavenly.
Oops, forgot to mention which book. "Uneasy Relations" by Aaron Elkins, t.b. followed by "Cockatiels at Seven" by Donna Andrews. Two favorite authors.
Rita, I'm glad you've found this section!
I'm currently reading Moby Dick. I think it's much better now than when I tried to read it as a teenager.

Currently I am reading the Historian by Elizabeth Kostova and just finished Confrontations by Jacques Vallee. I am about 1/3 through Howard Zinn's A Peoples History of the United States, but I had to return it to the library (couldn't renew - there is a wait list), so I will get on the wait list and finish it when it is available again.
Finished "Breathless" by Dean Koontz and am still reading Anne Rice's book, "Angel Time". After that, I think I'll try Michael Crichton's "Pirate Latitudes".
Over the Christmas holiday, I started and finished Shadow's Edge. Great book. Maybe even better than its prequel.I also read Ménage à 20, Tales with a hook, an anthology that two of my stories were published in. (Yaaaay!)
Next I will be reading--oh geez, I don't know. I'm kinda busy with editing.
