Delilah Canaan (deleelah) | 25 comments Is there anything more vexing for an author than trying to get a review on amazon?

Cindy Matthews (celinechatillon_cynthianna) | 13 comments I hear you, Delilah! Long ago, it was much easier but now... You have to bribe "reviewers" with freebies or outright pay for reviews, which I find unethical. How "professional" is a paid/bribed review? IMO, it's not.

Ken Consaul | 180 comments I received a review that started "I recieved a copy for free in exchange for an honest review." I never made any 'deal' with the reviewer so perhaps the intent was they got a Select Freebie and at the end I asked for a review. In any event not complaining too much. I noticed other reviews by this person that started the same way.
At the end of my books I request a review, letting the reader know independents live and die by the review process.
The number of reviews I picked up during and after running a Kindle Countdown deal were remarkable. I picked up a dozen (three books) in about two weeks.
I picked up a couple of negatives but overall my books have maintained a 4 star plus rating.
As for effectiveness, If I can get another dozen I might mention the high marks in any promo material.

You can spend a lot of time sifting through reviews for kitchen appliances and electronics that way. Here's a way to isolate book reviews by genre:

Special Google Short Code (Jus copy and paste it): “top 1000 reviewer” “your keyword/genre” “e-mail:” site:http://www.amazon.com/gp/pdp/profile

Amber Foxx (amberfoxx) | 250 comments I don't have a lot of reviews on Amazon but I didn't have to do much to get them, either. Once in a while I look, and there's another unsolicited review. I have as many or more blog interviews and blog reviews and those reach more targeted readers, since the bloggers have an audience that is interested in the kind of books I write. Maybe because I buy more books from Barnes and Noble than Amazon, I'm not dependent on Amazon reviews as a buyer and reader. I look at Goodreads reviews more. Perhaps I should try harder to get Amazon reviews but I tend not to think about Amazon as the center of my marketing. Maybe I should.

M.K. Theodoratus (mktheodoratus) | 79 comments I can't give concrete advice on how to get more reviews on Amazon. I do suspect that maybe you should spend more effort marketing there. According to the statistics, they sell a lot of books.

I am new to this. I just published my first book last week. I am looking for people to exchange reviews with. This seems to be working.

I completely agree with you Cynthia. There is a waiting list everywhere to get your book reviewed. In the past, getting published is a big deal. Now getting people to notice you is the deal.Sigh.

Thank you so much. Your comment is very enlightening to me.

Flo | 1 comments Finally, the simplest way to connect authors/sellers with (real) reviewers is this web app http://reviews-easy.com/ The only thing you have to do is to register (very simple), search for the category you are interested to get reviews and a list with all reviewers will be generated. You can download a file with them containing reviewers names and email address. It's all you want. And, for the moment, is for FREE.

Paromita Goswami (paromitagoswami) | 7 comments I NEED HELP!!
I am a self published author and currently my book is listed on few more sites along with Amazon. I have few reviews on amazon.in and good reads. I was wondering if there is a way where I could post these reviews on the other sites as well under my book.
