Angelfall Buddy Read!

Katrina and I have decided to read Angelfall together starting tomorrow! Anyone who has the book and would like to participate, feel free to join in the discussions :) We're reading 6 chapters a day with the first 6 to start on December 17th and then we'll be discussing.

Also, this is the first buddy read, but if you find someone who is reading the same book as you, feel free to create your own topic in this folder for your buddy read so that other group members can join in. Enjoy!!

Loving it so far!! I'm reading it much faster than expected so we can read more chapters per day if you're up to it (say 10?).

Anyway, 9 chapters in:

-Penryn is amazing! Tough, smart, witty, she's an awesome heroin! And talk about fighting skills!

-ugh her mom! What a mess but Pen handles her like a champ and the backstory adds even more to the harshness of her life.

-poor Paige! Not only in a wheelchair but now abducted by evil angels! And what did her mom do to her? Was it really her mom that did it? Freaks me out.

-the post apocalyptic world is amazing so far with the avenging angels fighting for some reason, killing billions (really? Billions?) of people. I want to know more about this story now!!

Ok. David. I'm really sorry. I kinda finished it all in one sitting. I was going to moderate the reading but then I just kept reading and next thing I knew I was halfway through the book already. I didn't even realize! I kept telling myself, "Ok, Katrina. This is the last chapter. You're already waaay too far ahead." But I kept saying it again and again and then it was already the last two chapters! Argh I am a horrible buddy reader. I'll keep the discussions spoiler-free and I'll be mindful on your place in the book.

But yes. I agree with everything you said. And I'm glad for the pace of the romance. I was really worried it'll take over the whole story and considering how early they met each other, it's a miracle they're still holding out.

That's fine DeAnna, whatever you can get too is cool, just post what chapter you're up to and your thoughts so I don't give away any spoilers :) I'm up to Chapter 25 but I think you'll catch up because I'm slowing down as I started writing my new book :)

I finished chapter 9, and I completely agree with everything you said. As much as I love Katniss, she was just too good with no background as to why. I love that we find out that Pen has taken 5 years worth of self-defense! This book is really good so far. If it wasn't so late, I'd keep reading!

Yeah the backstory with the mom is really effective and makes everything seem so much more real, if that makes sense.

Considering all that's happened, I don't think Pen should dismiss her mum as some crazy schizo. Maybe shehas been getting visions and whatnot.

Exactly. Her backstory makes her more believable than Katniss, though I LOVE Hunger Games!

Hmm interesting, perhaps there is more to her tale than the rotten egg, sort of freaky mum lurking around...

Okay, I have read through chapter 24, so I'm all caught up now! These scenes with the people in the woods are kind of disturbing, but I'm loving the action and mystery packed into this book! Again, I'm too tired to keep reading, but I really want to!

LOL yay!! Ooh, yes there is a lot disturbing about the book! Overall, I'm definitely enjoying it, although some of Pen's cheesy lines are grating on me a bit. I like her toughness though and willingness to do anything to help her sister :)

It's funny because in a lot of ways it's reminding me of The Hunger Games and Twilight but with a darker feel and a more likable (than Twilight anyway) main character. I loved Twilight and THG, so this is a good comparison for me to make. lol

Yeah, I definitely like her more than Bella. I am glad too that the book isn't all about her falling in love with an angel, her world is too dark and distorted for that. She's keeping her eyes on the ball.

There are some pretty great dialogue as well. Really witty remarks especially from Raffe.

LOL! What are you going to rate it DeAnna? Katrina and I seemed to agree with 4 stars but curious if you're in the same boat. A few people have given me a hard time for not giving it five stars lol!

Oh and Katrina, why did you take a star off? As I noted, mine was for dialogue, I know you thought some of it was witty, but I thought the good dialogue lines were few and far between, but that's just me (and I can be way cheesy myself too, so I probably shouldn't judge lol!)

I would've liked more info on the whole angel hierarchy thing and just generally more info on the angels. But I guess it was mainly for suspense and the fact that Raffe and Pen weren't exactly bffs. So yeah. And I'm still not even sure about those scorpion angel things. Are they supposed to be the Nephilim? Or a completely different thing? OK. Maybe I'm being harsh to this book for unfair reasons. It's just build up and I'm probably taking out my frustration for not having the next book now, on this one.

Lol! Fair enough. Yeah I thought she threw a lot of random stuff in at the end that made it a bit overdone, but I also really liked the last 20% though, so I guess it worked!

Oh yeah, I loved it as well. But I just wish there's more hard info.

I had to think about my rating. I ended up giving it 4 stars. The ending just really left me wanting more. I'm used to cliffhangers, but I just felt that this book left way too many questions at the end, and we have no idea when the next book is coming! Gah!!! I want the next book NOW!
