Perhaps it's just me, but I find the characters of Fyodor Pavlovich, Dmitri Fyodorovich and Kolya very similar. The way they like to lie and blurt out the first thing that comes to mind; the way they indulge in their own sense of self; the way they can't seem to do a good deed without hurting someone in the process; the way they need to impress others to validate themselves... I can go on and on. I wonder if Dostoyevsky tried to achieve something by describing such similarities across generations.
