Toni (tonibettencourt) | 30 comments How about YA for the people who don't normally read YA. I read YA all the time, but some people could stretch themselves like I'm going to be stretching myself to read a biography!!!

That's a god one. I'll add it when I get home.

Teresa Crawford (tsplace) | 20 comments Is erotica romance? LOL

message 5: by Andrea (Drea) (new)

Andrea (Drea) (msdre711) Read Captive in the Dark or Seduced in the Dark. Excellent books but definitely out of your comfort zone. They were incredibly good but they are erotica. It is a book where you are supposed to hate one of the characters but the author gets you to like him.

Kathryn (an80slady6886) | 43 comments Sounds like a good one! I hate fantasy, though, so I doubt I will get to that, but who knows.

Would Robyn Carr's Virgin River series be categorized as fiction or romance?

Either one Kathryn!

Kathryn (an80slady6886) | 43 comments One more question, what would the difference be between fiction and general/literary fiction? I guess literary fiction would be considered a classic, but general fiction, how would that different from the genre of fiction?

Oops, I'm sorry if this was confusing. Fiction and Non-fiction aren't categories by themselves. They are just headings to break up the categories. In Fiction there is romance, YA, etc etc in Non-Fiction there is biography, history etc. does that make it more clear? I edited the formatting on the original post too so it should make more sense :)

Rich Meyer (Rich_Meyer) | 53 comments Shouldn't science fiction be a category as well?

Yes! I can't believe I missed it. I'll add it now.

message 15: by Rich (new)

Rich Meyer (Rich_Meyer) | 53 comments I thought maybe people were considering "fantasy" as "science fiction", but that's really two way different categories by most accounts.

No, the list is wonky because I made it up off the top of my head. If anyone else thinks of a genre to add just let me know.

message 17: by Richard (new)

Richard Parise | 4 comments So this is why humor is such a hard sell. Guess I'm going to need to switch genres. It always amazes me that so many people would rather have more DRAMA in their lives than humor.
