How do you prefer to read: e-reader, tablet or hardcover?

Paperbag always. I will never be able to say goodbye to the feeling of holding a book in my hands nor the smell of the pages. I love the way the small changes when I have read the page. PB also cause it's so light and easy to take on a ride, plus they take out less space in my home.

Kindle.Bought my first kindle in 2007, I think. I remember when Oprah introduced them on her day time show. She was so excited and pulled me right in with her. At the time she offered to pay $50 of the cost for anyone who went on Amazon to buy one.(thank you again, Oprah.) Presently, I am enjoying my third one. By the way, my first one still works. I tell my friends "love" is keeping it alive. LOL!

E-readers are nice and they are probably far more environmentally friendly than the dead tree kind of books. With that said, there's nothing like the smell of the pages of a new book. I also prefer print for textbooks, especially science/medicine textbooks, because I can jot notes to myself in the margins and can more easily flip from page 105 to page 53 to page 375 back-and-forth if the information that I need is in more than one chapter. E-readers sure are great for long trips so that you don't have to haul books around and are also gentler on your wallet once you purchase the hardware, especially if you're a voracious reader. In a nutshell, I like both, just for different purposes!

I'm using my Kobo glo ereader because I live in the Netherlands and the bookshops here don't sell much Englisch books, shipping to the Netherlands takes a lot of time and you have to pay for shipping.

Ah, yes. I forgot to mention audiobooks, which I listen to in my car (they were a godsend when I lived in LA). Thanks for reminding me, Deborah. I love "The Great Courses" by The Teaching Company, which sells undergraduate level courses on just about any subject, most of which are compatible with in-the-car learning.

I love the look of hardcovers but I enjoying the reading experience more with a trade paperback. I prefer to read physical books, but I love using my ipad for books with lots of vocabulary! Also, the ipad is great to use when in bed or when reading those 1000+ page books.

I'm reading TTOH on my tablet on the Kindle app. I love the idea of downloading a book in seconds. I also have the app on my phone so I can pick it up anywhere and get more reading done when there is downtime, e.g., doctor's office, a long line at the post office which I experienced the other day or any other time when you have unexpected time on your hands. But having said all of that I love the feel of a physical book. There's something about walking into a library or a book store that makes me smile and feel good all over. Love it! I don't think I would ever want to give up either one. But if I had to choose, I would choose a real book any day. You don't ever have to worry about it breaking down, not being charged up, in sync or anything else that is dependent on electricity or technology. If all else fails, with a physical book you could always read by candlelight :)

I prefer books. I like the way they feel and the way I feel when I cuddle up on the couch. I have a Kindle and I seem to use that more for apps and facebook. I have read books on my kindle but I favor the "real" thing more.

I prefer reading using the old-fashioned way. There is nothing like curling up with a good book, flipping the pages, outlining your favorite passages, etc. Having said that, I also enjoy having a Kindle around on the IPhone application,as well as the Kindle reader. It is convenient knowing that you can take books anywhere and not have to carry them around. Also, it is a nice time distractor when you have some extra free time.
