We love how you enjoy reading in many different forms, Karen. We hope you will check out Oprah's notes and favorite passages on your special digital edition of The Twelve Tribes of Hattie.

Renee wrote: "Ereader certainly. It's so much easier to hold and so much cheaper for books.

I bought a Kobo but I think I'm going to upgrade to a Kindle for Xmas."

It sounds like you like to read a lot, Renee. Do you take your e-reader with you when you travel?

What do you think you would like about an e-reader, Sofia?

E-readers certainly are convenience, Hermoine. Thanks for joining Oprah's Book Club 2.0 - we can't wait to hear your thoughts on The Twelve Tribes of Hattie.

It must really bring the book to life when you follow along with a narrator, Trudy. Thank you for sharing with us.

message 157: by Divya (new)

Divya (thisdivinelight) Hardcover (or paperback). But I guess I'm a tad old fashioned that way because I also like going to the local bookstore and browsing :-).

message 158: by Jess (new)

Jess I prefer reading on my iPad nowadays since it's cheaper to buy English books on it for me here in Sweden (The Twelve Tribes of Hattie would cost me $19 as paperback and the e-book only $12). My husband also likes the fact that I don't have the light turned on half the night when reading on the iPad :)

message 159: by Brenda (new) - rated it 4 stars

Brenda (brendah04) | 0 comments I love my e-reader because it goes everywhere with me. Books can be heavy and don't easily fit in my purse. I also can borrow books from the library on my e-reader. I love that too!! I mostly use my e-reader.

With that being said......I love hardcover books. I love the way they feel in my hands. I love just holding them. I even love the way they smell. Call me weird, but I need a real book in my hands once in a while.

message 160: by Heather (new) - added it

Heather | 1 comments I have a few e-books on my iPad to read when when traveling, but otherwise it's hardcover or paperback.

message 161: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Oehmler Prefer books of paper. Reading on a screen is just not the same.

message 162: by James (new) - rated it 5 stars

James Devlin-Braswell (jdevlinbraswell) | 1 comments I definitely prefer to read on my iPad. Not sure if that's an e-reader or tablet. Whatever it is, that's my preference.

message 163: by NayNay (new)

NayNay e-reader, love it!

message 164: by Aaron (new)

Aaron (aaronhoff) | 2 comments Ereader 100% but then I end up buying the book for my shelf anyway which is kind of annoying

Yes, I make notes in the margin and not only that I highlight key points that I like. My paperbacks looks like my Bible. Full of notes and highlighted to the maximum with scraps of paper stuck between the pages.

message 166: by Melva (new)

Melva (hookerm) | 25 comments New technology is fine and I believe in new developments because we no longer ride in the horse and buggy but drive cars.
But if a car breaks down there are people who can and have horse and buggy's to ride in and do not have to worry about gas. That is why I say do not forget the old ways that are beneficial. If you are a cashier and depend on the cash register to tell you how much change to give a customer and the power goes out you are in a lot of trouble if you cannot count in your head and will certainly loose sales.
Remember the foundation even when new things are developed and you will still prosper and get ahead.

Mochaspresso | 3 comments Tablet w/ the kindle app, but I'm thinking of getting myself the kindle paperwhite for Christmas. I love love love my tablet but the only downside is that you can't use it outdoors in direct sunlight and you supposedly can with the actual kindle devices.

message 168: by Pam (new) - rated it 4 stars

Pam | 3 comments I'm reading this on my tablet. I prefer holding a book in my hand, but you can purchase e-books from home and get them immediately. That is not necessarily a good thing for the budget. I buy books, but I also frequent the library. Couldn't read as much as I do if I had to purchase them all.

message 169: by BE (new) - rated it 4 stars

BE Lauriette (bebooks) | 2 comments It all depends on my mood. I've read most of the books this year on my nook. But, I recently have this strong desire to feel the pages, turn the pages and double back to get some understanding. I do them all though; nook, paperback and hardcover. I'm reading "The Twelve Tribes of Hattie" on hardcover.

Vernell Bolar | 2 comments E-reader all the way.

message 171: by Kathryn (new)

Kathryn (kathrynh) Most definitely hard cover.

message 172: by Roberta (new)

Roberta Wunder | 2 comments e-reader absolutely. No storage issues, I've purchased some books 3 times over the years. I like to revisit old friends every few years. Interesting how my perspective changes with the decades

message 173: by Dana (new) - rated it 4 stars

Dana ****Reads Alot**** Definitely my e-reader.I take it everywhere with me.

message 174: by Sean (new) - rated it 5 stars

Sean Martinelli | 2 comments I love seeing the book on the shelf, but I never like to highlight or underline in a physical book. So sometimes I end up buying the book twice so I can have an e-book version, then a hard copy for the shelf. Currently reading Twelve Tribes in hardcover, and going on Oprah.com to see the highlighted passages and notes.

message 177: by Susan (new)

Susan | 5 comments My Ipad. I can take it everywhere always in my purse.

message 178: by Kim (new)

Kim Schmidt (KimSchmidt) | 2 comments I like them both it depends on what mood I am in.

message 179: by Angela (new) - added it

Angela (angela_w) Hardcover.

KC Rhoads (kc_rhoads) | 6 comments Kim wrote: "I like them both it depends on what mood I am in."

I like your answer: although I answered hard cover; I use both.

message 181: by Candys (new)

Candys Both!
But I still love curling up with a good book.
I use my Kindle alot more tho. I find its cheaper, but if I really love a book, I want to own the actual thing to keep on my shelf.
My Kindle is much more convenient, it slips right into my purse and I have with me, several books, and even games.

Rosalie Turner | 5 comments I read The Twelve Tribes of Hattie on my kindle. I love my kindle because I can have so many books ready to read without carrying a stack around, but I still love the feel of reading hardcover & do both.

message 183: by Delores (new) - added it

Delores | 1 comments I have a tablet but I prefer the feel of a real book in my hand, preferrably a hardcover.

message 184: by SerenaBeReading (new)

SerenaBeReading (reenuhgee) I prefer a good hardcover. Nothing like turning pages and physically seeing how much more you have left of a book. Plus books smell divine. :-)

message 185: by Linda (last edited Dec 23, 2012 04:34AM) (new) - rated it 5 stars

Linda (mspianobug) I have three Kobos and love it. I also love "real" books so I guess the operative thing is that I love books. The mini Kobo allows me to carry my whole library everywhere. I have to spend time in waiting rooms because of taking care of my mother and love my kobo for this. Also, the important, useful thing is that you can borrow ebooks from the Toronto Public Library.

A friend on another group said that she "bought" a membership to a library in another city in order to download more books as well as in her own town.

Made me laugh because who would have thought there would be a "fiddle scam" for reading.

message 186: by W (new) - added it

W (thereader1) | 3 comments Definitely hardcover, I can't stand reading something digitally. I love the feel of book, and turning the pages. Even though my bookshelf is overstocked with books, time or a new one

message 187: by Joe (new)

Joe Hilton | 2 comments Kindle. I love to make notes while I am reading. I can type and underline easily without searching for a pencil.
I do not like the fact that the battery runs out while reading.

message 188: by Helen (new)

Helen | 2 comments Usually i like the real thing However, couldn't wait to get going - so I read this book on my phone.

message 189: by Wendy (new) - added it

Wendy I prefer my nook but often wind up with whatever copy is in the library. Reading over 40 books/year gets expensive if I bought them all!

message 190: by David (new)

David Moles | 1 comments For many years I resisted the idea of buying an e-reader. But last year I bought my Kobo Reader and more recently an Ipad. Since my work requires frequent travel to areas where books are not readily available my e-reader is my constant companion and I can buy books online whenever I need.

message 192: by Rosalie (new)

Rosalie | 1 comments Paperback :)

message 193: by Amber (new)

Amber (amberbowen) I prefer books, but don't mind my e-reader.

message 194: by Amy (new) - added it

Amy I love print. I hope it will never go out of style. However, I always have a book downloaded on to my phone so I am never without reading material.

message 195: by Yanee (new) - rated it 4 stars

Yanee (ladyy) | 2 comments Nook color all the way!

message 196: by 'denise (new)

'denise (cheesman) | 2 comments I read via Kindle or my tablet, and the old fashion way, a book...I plan on joining audible.com to get my grand kids into reading. Jayden, who is 1 year's old sits on my lap while listening to audible books on the kindle and loves them...he is so cute :-) George don't like read, so I think audible books may spark a interest in reading...crossing my fingers :-)

message 197: by 'denise (new)

'denise (cheesman) | 2 comments I enjoy reading via my kindle, tablet, computer & the old fashion way "hard cover book" ....Books all over the house and I can't part with them :-)

message 198: by Ika (new)

Ika Quiliem | 1 comments I just love reading anything :)

message 199: by QueenAmidala28 (new) - added it

QueenAmidala28 I prefer hardcover but I take whatever I can get at the library (i.e. Kindle copy, hardcover or paperback).

message 200: by Ameena (new)

Ameena (ameenasultan) Definitely E-reader, because I can keep my books organized and all in one place, plus it is easy to carry anywhere.
But I love the feeling of the hardcover between my hands and I really miss it.
