My apartment has long run out of book shelf space, so unless it's an exceptionally illustrated book, it's all e-format for me. Go iPad!

eReader, I love my kindle fire, because I get my books anytime and anywhere :DBut if I have a book (and I have plenty) near to my heart I make sure I have the Hardcover, just in case of blackout, war with aliens for our planet, you never know
I love both!!! The portability of my kindle is AWESOME!!! However, nothing can compare to a real book. I always love loaning my books out to everyone which is more difficult with an ereader.
hardcover is my preference, but for reading during my subway commute -- my nook tablet is more convenient...
always have loved real books, but lately I really want to get an e-reader so I can buy books that may not be available in bookstores yet
I read across all formats; but I prefer print or audio over an eReader. In print or audio, I find myself reading critically and deeper than with an eReader.
Hardcover. I have to have the book in my hands. My husband wants to buy me a kindle or IPad so I can just download the books but I just have to have the book. :)
I love reading on my Nook, but will never give up physical books.
I love to read the real thing....however....sometimes you can't put a heavy book in your bag....suitcase..... then an e- reader, even though I was reluctant at first, is great....The books I really really really want to collect I buy in hardcover but the house has it's walls and contain only so much space....buying an e-reader was cheaper than a bigger house....Nothing can beat the smell and feel of a real book though!!!!
I actually prefer both. I have some books on my Nook like series and also other books, and a I have a select few that I have in hardback and paperback. I still prefer going to the library and picking out a book and reading it front to cover. Plus the smell of books makes me feel good because I know there are so many stories and books are still coming out in ereaders and physical books both sell just as fast. Just sometimes one is cheaper than the other. I feel the same as J.Elizabeth with ereaders and books.
They both certainly have their benefits and drawbacks, i love the portability of my kindle, and the fact that I don't have to turn pages if I am say, reading in bed for example. However, I often find myself still stopping and looking at books at the bookstore/library and buying hardcover/paperback books. I don't think there is one better than the other.

Thanks for sharing, Linda. Do you find yourself reading from your tablet or phone while traveling?

We love how there are so many ways that we can access books today, Catherine. What do you think of Oprah's notes and favorite passages so far?

We're so happy you experimented with an e-reader, Marion. We also love being able to bookmark, look up words, etc. Have you checked out any of Oprah's notes or favorite passages through your digital edition?

That's a great idea, Erin. We love passing along books and discussing them with family and friends. We hope you'll continue to join all of our discussions here on Goodreads.

It's wonderful that you have the option to read both, Heather. Have you been following along with Oprah's notes and favorite passages on your e-reader?

I used to love physical books! But then I couldn't get all the new reads in that form back home and I discovered with my Android I could read ebooks. I was hooked from then on. I could download books and save them in my phone and read wherever I was. It was fantastic! So it is definitely ereader for me.
Must say that I love the feel and smell of a book. I have books in every room, my car, my purse. I can pick any book and begin w/the pg. I left and continue w/same thoughts. Love books. susie
I love to read on my iPhone and my iPad. For one, I don't disturb my daughter (who sleeps with me quite often) with the light when I read at night. Also, it's so convenient. I take my phone with me everywhere I go and I'm able to sneak a few pages in every time I have a couple minutes of downtime.

We love being able to read on the go, Bajen. Will you be reading The Twelve Tribes of Hattie on your e-reader too?

There's certainly something special about reading from a hardcover, Susie. Do you ever make notes in the margins or bookmark your favorite passages?

Tablets and cellphones have made it easier to read anywhere. What do you think about Oprah's notes and favorite passages in the digital edition?

I love them. I've only come across about 4 so far, but I like to read her thoughts as I go along. And tell Auntie O I love her too! :)

It has even encouraged me to highlight and make comments on passage the I find interesting. I have never highlighted in a fiction book before.
I think it depends on the book. Some books I actually want to have a copy to hold and other books I'm perfectly find with using an iPad/Kindle.
I read only paperbacks and hardcovers. I'm constantly writing/underlining in things I read, so it's much more convenient. Plus I like the actual book in my hands. It's like buying a CD, and actually having it, compared to iTunes.
The Twelve of Hattie is out in early January 2013 in the UK, so I will purchase which ever is the cheapest and quickest probably on ipod but the screen seems small, possibly kindle but unlikely to be hardcover.
I am reading
in hardcover because I borrowed it from the library, but I also have a Nook and I love it!
I'm going to read the book on my Kindle. I just bought the special edition of the book with Oprah's notes from Amazon. It is like reading the book with Oprah. I'm so thrilled!
I like reading books in the traditional format - not electronic although I have read books electronically when I was studying.
I love my nook hd+. Using an e-reader gives me the ability to read something more intense & easily switch to something a little lighter when I need a break. Plus it allows me to expand my book collection without having to continuously invest in bookshelves!
Prefer reading on the IPad - it's comfy, convenient, & I love being able to highlight & take notes without marking up my fav books.
Hardcover, for sure....nothing like holding a new, fresh book of the shelf in your hand....I dont know how much anyone would agree with me...but the smell of a new books is just something I cant describe!
Mostly, I read fiction eBooks, but also depends on my mood (sometimes I need the comfort the heavy weight of a book in my hands) and but for poetry and non fiction I prefer paper booksJudy Croome, Johannesburg, South Africa
D love hardcovers. There is nothing like the feel of a book,I love the covers and the smell of a new book.I can see where having a Kindle is hand during travel, you can have multiple books, without lugging around a lot of books!
