Final thoughts?

Now that it is all said and done, what did you think of the trilogy as a whole and what did you think of Blackout as the coda?
I have a stranger perspective because I had never heard of the trilogy before I stumbled on Blackout in the library. So I read them completely in reverse.
I love horror, but for some reason zombie novels had never appealed to me.

I was absolutely blown away, not just by the characterizations, the shoutouts to people like Joss Whedon and Rob Zombie, the dialog, but the political story that was the undercurrent.

In a way I'm glad I read it backwards because had I read it in order I would have hated Shaun so much I might not have made it to the second book. Talk about a transformation from the start to the finish.

I love this series. I usually hate anything political but the intrigue and suspense here were great. These books are not about zombies, zombies are just an element to the story. I was not expecting that when I started the series but am glad they are just the way they are.

Best. Possible. Ending.

weird, u read it backwards? i never tried that before.... i liked the book, yea ending was cool... nt so happy ending.

This series was recommended to me by my local book store's staff. I loved this series and it is not the typical type of read for me. I hesitated to buy it since it was about zombies, but gave it a read...I agree with Diane -the zombies are just an element of the story. Mira Grant did an awesome job on her characters and the whole story line. I have recommended it to all my friends at the office!

I absolutely loved this series. As a huge Joss Whedon & Rob Zombie fan I obviously got a little over-excited at the references made.
The fact that it was essentially a story set in a world where zombies are a part of life, rather than a story revolving around surviving a zombie apocalypse it what set it apart from everything else for me.

I definitely (view spoiler)
I have to say, I struggled slightly reading through the second book, I just didn't find it as compelling as the first one. But I'm glad I made it onto the third book as, again, (view spoiler)

The one thing I do have a slight problem with, is the fact that apart from the flyaway comment that Becks made (view spoiler)

Just wondered what other people made of that?

I really enjoyed this series, and read all of them, one after the other. Yeah, I would read them again. Very interesting characters.

Overall I liked them but I wasn't very happy that Georgia was brought back.

It really destroyed the impact of her sacrifice, and the CDC's reasons for bringing her back don't hold up to any level of scrutiny.
Plus in a zombie book, even one like this one which is more in the conspiracy/suspense genre, someone who is so certifiably dead really should not be brought back from the dead unless they're coming back as a zombie. At least that's my opinion.

I usually like happy endings, but in this case I would have preferred a bittersweet ending without Georgia
