Craig Kirkby | 3 comments Hi All,

Just joined this group. I'm a father of two beautiful girls (ages 11 and 8), who love to read, and I'm interested in your suggestions for faith-building books for them to read.

I've written two books for the 11-15 year old age group myself, but would love to know your recommendations. Ta.

T.C. Slonaker | 10 comments Hi Craig,
My first book of the YA series, The Angelman Series, was just published in December. The first book is Amity of the Angelman. Although they are fantasy fiction about teens who find out the are members of the Nephilim race and need to fight to be freed from Satan's hold, each of the first four books points to message of salvation, and the 5th book brings it all together as an analogy of Christ's sacrifice. My daughter is 10, and she enjoyed it, but it has been enjoyed by all ages, to my surprise. I would encourage you to check it out on my website.

R.J. Gilbert (rjagilbert) | 12 comments I've been writing a fantasy series geared for 10 to about 14 (although adults like it, too) that you might like. So far only the first book is available for traditional paperback, but I just released the second book on Amazon.Kindle and Smashwords in time for Saint Patrick's Day (the plot is about fairies and luck).
The Lucky and the Strong by Robert J.A. Gilbert The Sarian's Sword (Tales of Vantoria book 1) by Robert J.A. Gilbert
The Sarian's Sword--paperback edition--features puzzles between the chapters that are relevant to the adventure and help illustrate the messages.

Hannah Dear My friend recommended a book called First Date to me a few months ago and it was nothing like the title suggests. It is perfect for the 11-15 age range and there's absolutely no sex like the title could suggest.

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/11...

It has Christian themes throughout the book and is similar to the story of Esther.

R.J. Gilbert (rjagilbert) | 12 comments My family discovered Thomas L. Tedrow's Younguns series and are looking for more. Tedrow writes books for this age range, but also with the idea that families can read together.

This is the one we read: The Legend Of The Missouri Mud Monster (The Younguns , No 4) by Thomas L. Tedrow
My whole family took turns passing the book between us so the other readers could rest their voices. It was just too good to stop reading.

Elizabeth Newton (elizabethnewton) | 3 comments Hi there. My name's Elizabeth Newton and I'm writing an adventure/sci-fi series with space and time travel called "Train Flight"

For everyone aged 10 and up. (Younger children would enjoy it being read to them also).

Series Synopsis:
There is a man, who owns a train. And there are few on this precious sphere called Earth who know what this train really is. You are about to become one of those few, for I am going to let you in on a secret... It travels in time and space. But this is far from the most exciting part. There’s another man. A man not of this world. The Son of the Beginning and the End, the Comforter and Commander, Creator of all things. The One who imagined the suns and planets of the universe and breathed them into being. The One who sends mighty waves crashing and fearsome thunder roaring. The One who comforts the broken-hearted. In all the Train's adventures to faraway worlds and to distant times across the ages, it and its Captain have just one purpose... To seek this Wonder of wonders. To SEEK HIM!

“This time-traveling, science fiction adventure for young teens has Christian themes reminiscent of The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis. It has monsters, chase scenes, and splitsecond escapes.” - US Review of Books.

Please check out the newly released "Train Flight" series!

There are four published in the series so far:
1.) Moon Man
Train Flight Moon Man (Book 1) by Elizabeth Newton

2.) The Birth of Salvation
Train Flight The Birth of Salvation (Book 2) by Elizabeth Newton

3.) The Sanctuary
Train Flight The Sanctuary (Book 3) by Elizabeth Newton

4.) Furry Friends
Train Flight Furry Friends (Book 4) by Elizabeth Newton

There is currently a giveaway offer on until the 10th April for the first book of the series "Moon Man".

or from most online bookstores.

Mark Weaver | 2 comments I am the co-author of a new book titled "I Love Base Ball." The other author and I are both Christians. The story promotes Christian values like standing up for what is right, courage in the face of fear, friendship across racial lines, etc. The book has just been published and is not yet available on Goodreads because it is still in the application process with the Library of Congress.

It is available in both print and Kindle form at Amazon.com

Kindle: http://astore.amazon.com/rpressbooksc...

We also have a Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ilovebasebal...

William Woodall | 1 comments She might like "The last werewolf hunter", which is written primarily for middle schoolers and young adults. It's about standing up for what's right and true even when it's very difficult. Several kids in the 9-12 year old range have read it and enjoyed it very much. It teaches lessons of love, sacrifice, humility, and kindness in a way that a child or adult can relate to, and devotion to Christ even when that turns out to be costly. You can find it anywhere books are sold, but here is the amazon link:

T.C. Slonaker | 10 comments Lindsay! I just checked out your website, and I must say I am quite impressed. I am really glad you are doing this too. I have young girls, and when they are older, I don't want them to be stuck reading things like Twilight just because it's all they know about. (One reason I started writing, myself.) So, needless to say, I have your blog bookmarked.

I'm afraid I am not a self-published author, and since my publisher sets the prices, I do not have access to free copies of my books. But, I would still love it if you would take a look at my website, which explains my books. Perhaps they may interest you!

“Wonderful! … beautifully designed, and has a clear message.” Kathi Macias, Christian author.

“I highly recommend it! As a parent, I am so thankful that my children have some life-giving fiction books to read. This definitely falls into that category.” A. Powell, Prayer Ministy.

“I loved it. I’m reading it again this weekend.” M. Rose aged 12.

Mickey Mullen (mrmullenvcncom) | 3 comments 80% if not more of people wouldn't think of their parents being wrong about their religion or belief system. My dad was an Assembly of God Minister. His version of the salvation plan was to, "pray through," at an Alter. That is all I know about it. We quit going to church when I was nine. Then we have the sinners prayer and at the same time the spirit enters your body, or baptize a person in water and they will receive the gift of the Holy Ghost, or become a martyr to get 70 virgins, or pugatory will make you a good person, or the Bible, believe every word of it, or go through catechism, Etc.. What if none of these are true.

The problem with fiction books like,"Left Behind" Etc. they don't have the true salvation plan in them along with all your fiction books. Jesus said you must be born again and receive the Spirit to enter into the kingdom of God.

I found out when I was 31 years old that my Dad along with all the other churches never had a clue what Jesus ment by being born again. To tell you how bad it is I was saved at a gasoline service station.

Kids I need your help and so does God. In my book I believe the girls it would help, because I was predatory, or sex for the sport of it from the age of fifteen, in the bars and going to the tenth grade.

I found out salvation is physical and receiving the Spirit is physical both of them you will know it when it happens. My Non fiction religious book, is the way that I found salvation and according to the King James Bible of 1611 I will live with God in His kingdom for eternity. Mickey Mullen (mrmullenvcncom) | 3 comments When I was younger then you, my Dad made me memorize St John 3:16. I found out when I was 31 that the verse shouldn't be in the King James Bible of 1611 nor any of the others. Genesis 6:6 And it repented (grieved) the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. [https://www.createspace.com/4612897]

David Odum | 3 comments My wife, R. Michal Odum, is writing a series called The Feathered Kingdom. The first book, When Fools Prevail, is out, and you can get the first seven chapters here: http://www.rmichalodum.com. The series itself is not overtly Christian as it focuses on the story, but there are believers in it, and there are good themes (prayer, courage, loyalty to king vs. loyalty to country, etc.). We are doing a series of "episodes" (short stories) set in the same world that are more overtly Christian called "The Adventures of the Wing". We are currently awaiting the cover design for the first one and will be making at least the first four or five available for free to all who sign up to one of our email lists (newsletter or just new book releases).

I'd also suggest Arena by Karen Hancock. It is a science fiction allegory of the Christian life that, for the most part, I thoroughly enjoyed. While not billed for teens, I'm fairly certain that I would have liked it as a teen.

message 45: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia (cynthiattoney) | 8 comments For boys, I recommend the Sam Cooper series by Max Elliot Anderson and the Bash series by Burton Cole. My Bird Face series for girls now has a new publisher! Books one and two will be available sometime this summer.

message 46: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia (cynthiattoney) | 8 comments The first two books of my series for girls released! The main character is 14. Book one was originally tilted Bird Face but is now 8 Notes to a Nobody.

Book two, 10 Steps to Girlfriend Status, blurb: A Cajun family secret, two very different boys [one deaf], and a fight to keep a grandmother’s love—who would’ve guessed that looking through old photo albums could get Wendy into so much trouble?

This story uses humor and hope to address issues of adapting to a blended family, having a loved one suffering from Alzheimer’s, and struggling through that first innocent romantic relationship.

R.J. Rodda (rjrodda) | 1 comments The Last Virgin in Year Ten by Rosanne Hawke - a gently Christian book on high school, boys and youth group. The main character isn't the last virgin in year ten but only feels like it. She finds God in a significant way but this book is written so that a non-Christian could read it.
