How do people feel about the page load time?

Thanks very much indeed, Rosen. Much appreciated. Seems to load just fine.

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Doesn't it work well!

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments Our Rosen is pretty cool, she is.

message 54: by Stella (new)

Stella Deleuze (stelladeleuze) | 19 comments She can do what I can't, and I'm very jealous!

message 55: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments I'm surprised.
My blog entry was noted on the aggregator / bloggerator? pretty much straight away, but Ignite's hasn't appeared on there. I thought there'd be 2 of them kind of saying the same thing next to each other.

message 56: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments ... except looking down the page, her's was there at 10:17 and mine was at 17:59. But she didn't have the info until after I'd done my blog. Is Ignite a time traveller?

message 57: by Rosen (last edited Dec 12, 2012 12:37PM) (new)

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments I think Ignite is almost definitely a time traveller!

Even though I'd been on the page many times throughout the day, her post about 'The Ice Marathon' popped up about an hour ago, claiming it was posted this morning.

Either a time traveller, or her blogger date settings are askew - I prefer the time travel explanation.

message 58: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments I'm sure she is in a completely different space / time continuum altogether. With all her social life, GR posting and reading and reviewing, I'm exhausted just thinking of it all

message 59: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Okay, I tested that page on my home PC and there was a delay of maybe two seconds the very first time I clicked the link. After that, it was practically instant.

Seems fine.

Ignite is proper mad, like. Uber reader, time traveller and anthology chronicler all in one.

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments Glad it's loading quickly.

Patti (baconater) (goldengreene) | 56525 comments It's loading quickly even with my pants connection

message 62: by Stella (new)

Stella Deleuze (stelladeleuze) | 19 comments You can use pants when you don't have a cable? Good to know.

message 63: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Regarding what people view as self promotion, if you have a blog at all, you are promoting yourself, your views, your opinions. I look at authors' blogs precisely to find out about their books. I'm also, as a non-writer, fascinated by the processes of writing. I can't imagine how you craft a single story from beginning to end, let alone the way the best of you can weave several sub plots and story strands together. I can't do that at all. I barely know how the sentence I've just started will breakfast.
Blogs that tell me about works in progress, how ideas come, just how you do it, are the ones I go back to again and again.

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments Have added your Jaq, many thanks.

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Hi Rosen, how would you feel about adding mine?

www.willmacmillanjones.wordpress.com

message 66: by Rosen (new)

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments I've just added yours Will, thanks.

message 67: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Thanks, Rosen

message 68: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Ignite wrote: "Where would we readers be without them though?"

slightly better off with time to spend on real life?

then again, I've always felt that real life wasn't all it's cracked up to be

message 69: by Rosen (new)

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments Please could I ask people whose blogs have been featured to add a link back to http://www.indie-book-bargains.co.uk/... ?

This would really help its search engine visibility.

message 70: by Michael (new)

Michael Cargill (michaelcargill) | 2992 comments Done!

message 71: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Not sure whether mine is mainly about books or mainly about writing. It's at

http://jandbvwebster.wordpress.com/

I'll leave you to decide whether it is appropriate.
Ignite demanded that the depths of my soul be visible, so that's probably why the whole thing is so facile

message 72: by Kath (new)

Kath Middleton | 23860 comments Wallowing in the shallows are you, Jim? ;)

message 73: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Ignite wrote: "Wallowing in the shallows are you, Jim? ;)"

Well if there were hidden depths, I wouldn't know they were there would I? Stands to reason, if I knew they were there, they wouldn't be hidden.
Probably time I did another blog post as well. Ho Hum

message 74: by Will (new)

Will Macmillan Jones (willmacmillanjones) | 11324 comments Should they be called lost depths, then, rather than hidden?

message 75: by Jim (new)

Jim | 21809 comments Will wrote: "Should they be called lost depths, then, rather than hidden?"

Dunno. If you've lost something, it does rather presuppose you had, at some point, found it, or at least knew where it was.
I'm pretty sure if I'd these 'depths' I'd have noticed. Probably dropped a bucket into them to listen for the clang when it hit the bottom, that sort of thing.

message 76: by Rosen (new)

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments Jim, I've added your to my to do list. I wait until I have several to add before I update the list as it saves time.

Thanks to those who've added a link - it really will help.

message 77: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Rosen, can I just clarify what you mean about adding a link. Will adding the badge do? I'll also write a post on my blog about it. Or, are we talking about a permanent link on the side of the blog?

I've no problem with helping out. Just want to check what the best thing to do is :)

message 78: by Joo (new)

Joo (jooo) | 1351 comments I have a badge at the top of the page. Is that good enough?

message 79: by Rosen (new)

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments Jonathan, adding the badge using the suggested code is the same as adding a link. Sidebar is probably more effective from an SEO point of view than a post, but any sort of link would make me happy.

Joo, your loyalty has been noted! ;-)

message 80: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Rosen, I'll gladly add the badge. And, when I get time, I'll do a quick blog post. Anything to help out - you're doing a grand job :)

message 81: by Rosen (new)

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments Thank you very much. The higher the aggregator gets in search engine results, the more exposure for featured bloggers such as ourselves.

message 82: by Jonathan (last edited Dec 17, 2012 12:36PM) (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Badge added, so now I have the set of 3 :)

message 83: by Philip (new)

Philip Whiteland | 3394 comments Badge? Suggested code? Help! Where are these things? I've put a link to the site on my blog but it's pretty understated so if there's anything else I can do...

message 84: by Rosen (new)

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments A link will help with our search engine optimisation whilst being discreet. If you'd prefer something more showy the third badge on this page is ideal for bloggers:
http://www.indie-book-bargains.co.uk/...

message 85: by Rosen (new)

Rosen Trevithick (rosentrevithick) | 2272 comments Jonathan, thanks! I will be adding a 'Drabblist Badge' soon. Maybe you could get to four? ;-)

message 86: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Hill | 1599 comments Rosen wrote: "Jonathan, thanks! I will be adding a 'Drabblist Badge' soon. Maybe you could get to four? ;-)"

Ooh, count me in! And the best thing about your badges? You don't risk pricking yourself on the pin ;)
