Rachel | 701 comments Does anyone remember if King describes the environment The Dark Tower is in (forest, desert, etc.)? I'm thinking about trying to build the tower in the game Minecraft and I wanna put it in the right place. :)

It's an area that roses can grow in, at the very least. Heh

message 4: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) If I remember correctly, it was kind of rocky semi-dry plains type land that gradually merged into a huge rose-field.

Tee There was a snowy mountain too, wasn't there?

The snow was around Odd's Lane and quite a ways away from the Tower itself.

Tee Ah. I understand now. I thought we were mapping the whole journey.

Kathryn (kcanty313) | 747 comments What Becky described was something I remember, too. If my memory serves me correctly, there was a point where there was a description of someone resting or hiding behind a big rock, and it described some hills, too? I could be totally making this up out of my own imagination, though. ;)

That rings a bell Kathryn - I think it might have been described pretty thoroughly towards the end of the 7th book.

Ethan | 152 comments pretty sure Becky's on the money. Semi rocky desert type place. Then the tower in the middle surrounded by roses.

Nikki | 50 comments Walter was described as dead in the end of The Gunslinger- Roland found his skeleton and took his jawbone. So how did he continue through the story? Isn't he also Randall Flagg/ The Walking Dude?

message 17: by Becky (new)

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) Ahh, well... do we know he's REALLY dead? He's a wizard/sorcerer type after all. A powerful being who can most certainly disappear as he likes, and conjuring up a skeleton shouldn't be hard for someone like him.

The jawbone... well, you've heard of the concept of believe granting power, right? Roland believed in the jawbone as a talisman of sorts, and so it was.
