Except for Mr. Kent Silverwood. Now, Kent Silverwood was not known by all for being a bad man, as a matter of fact even today, you can still find people (mostly women) who say that he was never all that bad. But if you listen to most people in this area, he was a nasty, hot tempered man. He was accused of many different things such as, cattle stealing, raising a shot gun to a police officer and threatening him. He had a fancy for young GIRLS, dogs and guns. After hearing that the local grocer had caught one of his children stealing candy, he terrorized the family, busting mailboxes, making public threats to the man himself. The family was in total terror as were most of the town and surrounding area. It is said that some people tried or wanted to press charges against the man but were terrorized into not doing so. He shot the grocer in the neck one day. The man did survive and he did press charges. But in Subile, the sheriff claimed you may remain free on bond while appeals are heard. Finally, after so many years of terror, the towns people struck back. Several men walked into the bar, armed, nothing was said by anyone and when Mr. Silverwood left and the men followed him out to his truck. Then someone fired. Maybe more than one person fired. There followed a grand investigation. They talked to everyone. Many people claimed to be under the pool table and from what I understand, so many people claimed this that it had to be the biggest pool table ever built for that to actually happen. After all the investigation and all the questions, no one was ever charged. Many people have tried to unearth some clue to who was the shooter(s). The Citizens of the City of Sublie are very, very tight lipped. No evidence was found to link anyone to anything. Or at least not enough to arrest anyone. The case was dismissed by officials. Not by the towns people however.
Newcomers are no longer welcome, period. Terrified of the secret that a killer could be running around, the town sheriff has essentially threatened all outsiders with death. Yeah, seems like they're hiding something, yeah?
The Silverwood's children are holding onto Kent's evil legacy. The four aren't as bad as he was, but enough to reek havoc. The eldest son is the worst by far. Stay out of their path. Many believe they are the reason for the recent drug epidemic.
Now, two years after the murder, the coming snow of winter and Christmas should bring comfort, and it does. Until someone finds a trail of red snow out in the surrounding woods. At first, they said it was a wounded animal, then they followed it and saw Douglas Harrington, one of the men with the guns in the bar that supposedly killed Kent Silverwood, hanging in the woods...
