Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I'm humming R.E.M's song, "It's the End of the World as We Know It (and I Feel Fine)" and wondering, Are we there yet, are we there yet? Doomsday is just around the corner. Or is it? NASA and Erik Klemetti at WIRED Magazine claim the world will still be here on December 22nd. But, that doesn't mean we can't have some fun considering the what ifs.

12 21 12

But, if the apocalypse was coming ...
(1) Name 10 Doomsday bag essentials
(2) Would you pack books? If so, how many and which one(s)? (Remember, they'd have to be DTB in case there was no power for-like-ever, dude)
(3) What would you be doing the night of the 20th?
(4) What everyday luxury would you miss the most?
(5) What food item would you stock up on?

Sandra | 25908 comments ROFLMAO!!!

Hmm, now to answer the list :DDD

1. All the usuals, knife, hat, sunscreen (like this is Australia, dude), clothes & shoes, comb, books, alcohol, a bit more alcohol and whatever else I could cram in
2. Definitely!! As many as I could carry.
3. 20th is a Thursday - late night shopping - for all those essentials to put in the bag, no need to worry about the cost, cause its the end of the world
4. Ice Cream :(
5. Cake, just till I learn to cook cakes in a fire

Literary Ames (amyorames) | 1854 comments 1. What Sandra said, plus weapons and lots of 'em.
2. SAS Survival Guide How To Survive Anywhere, On Land Or At Sea (Collins Gem) by John "Lofty" Wiseman First Aid Manual The Authorised Manual of St John Ambulance, St. Andrews Ambulance Association and the British Red Cross by St. John Ambulance I own both. Anything else is optional.
3. Scoping out the nearest farm (10 min walk) which has sheep I can steal. That reminds me, I need some night vision goggles.
4. Hot running water and working toilets.
5. Rice, salt and spices. I'm practical like that.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments LOL! Gotta have some badass weapons, yah? ;) Hubby could send ya some night vision goggles. I'd miss hot, running water too. I could do without the toilet, but the steamy showers would be sorely missed. Rice is a great item to stock up on. My mind went to kale seeds, of all things, b/c of Mike's Ashfall book.

Tiffanie | 164 comments 1. Guns, Ammo, hunting knife, 1st aid kit, boots, long undies (it's winter here), flint, more guns, & 2 doggie crates for my puppies.
2. I'm taking everything from #01 and making my new home at the local Barns & Noble.
3. Making good use of my husband; and so will everyone else! I bet there will be a lot of doomsday babies being born 9 months later.
*Add to list from #01: condoms.
4. Washer & dryer.
5. Seeds for planting.

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments Aw, puppies. I'd have to tote my cats, though I'm sure that'd be harder than traveling with dogs. LOL! B&N! I love it, Tiffanie! I'd love to live in a bookstore or library, for that matter.

I was joking with my husband this morning and asked him to call me before the world ended. He smiled and said, "The 21st for everyone isn't until Saturday for us, so we'll be together." Silly boy.
