So to all those people who have been tellling me how good these books are, I'm so starting to understand why!

I'm not even sure where to begin.
I could kiss Burrich for going to fight Gulen when he almost literally broke Fitz, i'm actually really liking Patience.
And I'm starting to like dogs (the virtual ones, i'm afraid real dogs are still a bridge too far)

It really starts slow and builds up, so I can see it taking people a bit of time to warm up to.

You obviously haven't met the right dogs ^_^

The storyline is slow to build up, that's right, but i was sold after page 5 already. I can really enjoy a story with this naive, foggy atmosphere at the start. I don't need it all action-packed.

Probably not, i've only met the ones that come running towards you, barking like mad and jumping on you, while the owner is trying to calm them down...

That just means they want to be your friend!

Don't believe him. That definitely means they want to eat you.

Jenny (gielske) | 28 comments That just means they have terrible owners. The dog can't help that. You won't see Honey doing that, and she used to be one of those shelter 'trouble' dogs.

Michelle (gybelle) | 2 comments Can't agree more with you Hanne! My reading tempo really started to speed up during the events of these chapters. I just can't wait to learn more about Fitz' youth and how his friendship with Molly will flourish.

I agree! Dogs require training.

It's not OK for dogs to jump on people!! If people are going to live in society with dogs they have to socialize them! Just like one should do with children! How would dog people feel if someone's kids jumped on them yelling and snapping and knocking them down! They would not say, "Aww! Kids just wanna have fun! They're showing you they like you!" OMG! I am laughing instead of crying. I'm a delicate little creature when it comes to dogs myself. I was terrorized by a neighbor's aggressive dogs as a young child and scratched and knocked down several times and bitten once, just trying to walk by their house on my way to school.

Dogs can be awesome! But not to acknowledge a fear of dogs is not fair.

I adore the dog- and wolf thought processes in these novels. They are incredible effective through a thorough job of characterization. Wonderful writing.

Parker | 74 comments I love the Nighteyes/Fitz relationship! What impresses me is that Hobb got the wolf-think absolutely right.

You're right--dogs *do* need to be trained. I never allow my dog to jump on anyone. They can learn that a behaviour is OK with one person but not another (Our last dog, who passed away in October knew that it was fine to give me kisses on the face, but not my husband).

I'm sorry you were terrorised by your neighbour's dogs. Speaking as a trainer, shame on those neighbours. (They should never have had an aggressive dog as a pet in the first place!)
