I plan to read at least 50 books in 2008. Yesterday I finished Nightwood by Djuna Barnes. It is very well written and the characters still live in my mind. The last chapter seemed a bit out of place. I think I'll return to it in a week or two to see whether it fits any better. One book down and 49 to go...
I've got a lot of catching up to do. I just finished The Stupidest Angel and A Dirty Job by Christopher Moore. I read Old Filth by Jane Gardam, last week. Two more short stories and I will have finished Nothing That Meets the Eye by Patricia Highsmith. I'm in the middle of Middlesex. I read Lolita by Vladimir Nabokov in February and The World Without Us and the Birth of Venus in January. So that means I've read a mere 7 books out of 50 this year. Yikes.
