I just finished this book the other night, I love it, I am going to need to move the rest of this series the the top of the tbr pile!

I loved this series.

Mmm I'not as convinced. Too much worldbuilding - it was only the last 50 or so pages that engaged me really. Characters roles were too predictable. Why aren't the dhampirs in charge? They are stronger, more altruistic, and less self absorbed than the Moroi. Why have they let themselves be sidelined into blood whores and self sacrificing guardians? Mead says compulsion is illegal but I can't see what else would persuade them to stay in line. Hope the following books question the status quo rather than just develop the normal love triangles.
Other than that it has lots of YA/teen issues including near sex scenes with hot guys/girls so I can see how it would be popular!

Off to see if there's a VA#2 in the library. Will see where Mead s taking the book before I mve on I think.
