Never heard of it, so I needed major help. Thanks ladies. Quite relieved! I was trying all versions of naked, bare, bear, bared.... Even thought I had it with The Naked chef!

Anna the non-rattle is more about what it is used for, rather than the name of the item itself.

message 411: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (merelyreading) I'm not playing properly - just had a look at the clues and tried to guess a few.

message 412: by Anna (new)

Anna (justanna) | 145 comments Ah!!!! What the heck is it!!!! I'll have to rethink

Got the chess piece on now

Who uses a magnifying glass? Old fashioned.

What is in the glass, it is a what? Say it out loud. The ------ ---.

Jo Weston (joster) | 1697 comments Mod
In exchange, please can I have a clue on the tank ice cream van? 16 now.

message 419: by Anna (new)

Anna (justanna) | 145 comments Got them all!!

I'd not heard of the ice cream van one, but managed to get it by putting together the situation a tank is used in, and the item sold in the van.

I checked in books on amazon and discovered there was indeed a book by that name

Hmm... Not quite there on that yet.

I think the capital A must be very obvious, just not coming to me! Not Capital.

Paul (halfmanhalfbook) | 5463 comments Mod
Think the of the colour

Off out now will carry on, on my return

As well as the colour it'll help to know it could be a B, or a U, or anything from the alphabet

Jo Weston (joster) | 1697 comments Mod
As soon as I posted I got it! But thanks anyway. 17.....

Just stuck on the blasted van, and the two with hands in.

Anna (justanna) | 145 comments Concentrate on what the hands are doing, also what one on the is surrounded by.

I am no futher!! Cannot work out the compass, if only it was yellow!

One book left to go on my annual challenge

message 427: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (merelyreading) Paul - I may know the compass one. You might want to ask the author for the name of their dentist?

message 428: by Shirley (new)

INITIALly, you need to know where you are going...

We're thinking of the same one, aren't we?

Have completed my 2013 challenge. Very happy.

Still have three to go on this:

The soldiers
The compass
The V sign

message 431: by Anna (new)

Anna (justanna) | 145 comments With the soilders, concentate on the centre one and what his action is. I'll be less vaugue if that doesn't help!

Compass as been said you need to initally look at the direction

what does the v symbolise?

message 432: by Jo (new)

Jo Weston (joster) | 1697 comments Mod
I'd forgotten about this! I support what Anna says on all three. "Initially" being the operative word.....

I haven't got the blue hand and the tank van.

Paul (halfmanhalfbook) | 5463 comments Mod
Thanks to Elizabeth I have now got the compass. Will PM you Jo :-)

message 434: by Sandy (new)

Sandy | 458 comments We have ten inches of snow tonight in the northern US. I live in the country and all of the fields and roads are completely covered. I think it will be a white Christmas.

message 435: by Paul (new)

Paul (halfmanhalfbook) | 5463 comments Mod
It sounds lovely Sandy. It very rarely snows over Christmas in the UK, just grey and wet normally.

message 436: by Susan (new)

Susan (suze0501) | 190 comments Couldn't find the right thread, but has everyone picked-up that The Thirteenth Tale is being shown o. 30th December?

message 437: by Sandy (new)

Sandy | 458 comments Tonight out shoveling our rather long driveway. It is an almost full moon this evening, and the snow is shimmering on the fields. I have to make a path for the car so I'm not late for work! My kids helped too. Husband was watching football argh.

message 438: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (merelyreading) That snow sounds lovely Sandy, apart from the hard work to clear it!

When we get snow in the UK the country seems to grind to a halt as if it's come as a huge shock :D. Roads close, and trains stop running, schools close etc and everyone has to stay at home.

We now have torrential rain and it is blowing a hoolie out there.

Just like summer last year...

message 440: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (merelyreading) Aargh, tell me about it. We've just got back from Salisbury Hospital visiting my dad about 20 mins ago. Trees down, floods everywhere. Very wild out there.

Paul (halfmanhalfbook) | 5463 comments Mod
We went to Salisbury on Monday. Rained all the way there, dry when Christmas shopping and then rained all the way back to the car.

message 442: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (merelyreading) My children went to Salisbury Playhouse today for the pantomime, with the school. Good time by all accounts!

message 444: by Betty C. (new)

Betty C. | 127 comments I just wanted to drop in and say hi to everyone in the group, especially those I have been lucky enough to have some personal exchanges with.

I'm afraid my reading and group-following went the way of many other things as the school semester moved on -- other teachers will know what I'm talking about! I have at least continued to read throughout, though, but just at a snail's pace.

I hope to get some reading done over my 12-day vacation.

In the meantime, I'm wishing you all happy holidays!

Seasons Greetings Betty! My wife teaches so I can sympathise

message 446: by Sandy (new)

Sandy | 458 comments Happy holidays to you too Betty. I also teach and truly enjoy the time we have off. I work with adults, but have the ultimate respect for teachers who interact with adolescents and children. Enjoy your time off!
