Tracey (traceypb) Can I just add that as I'm also reading Transatlantic by Colum McCann which is also written beautifully and just my cup of tea I'm stricken which to pick up first.

message 1102: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1877 comments Haha, nice commanding of Paul. :)

I've only read Fahrenheit 451.

message 1103: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (traceypb) Well Jason you too are missing a cracking read :) In fact you'd be nuts not to buy it and read it before anything else you have planned ;)

Bella | 80 comments Tracey wrote: "Arrrgghh! Is anyone on planet GR reading Something wicked this way comes by Ray Bradbury? I'm bursting to discuss it as I read it because it's so fantastic."

Have you read Dandelion Wine? It's the first book of that series. I understand it's quite different in tone.

message 1105: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (traceypb) Bella I haven't but it is the style I'm loving.. It's full of similes and metaphors, descriptions and lush prose . Bliss :)

This sounds right up my alley! More books to add to my list! Yay!

Someone should suggest reading Ray Bradbury on the monthly reads, sounds like it could be worthwhile!

message 1108: by Tracey (new)

Tracey (traceypb) Patricia, Lisa I'd vote for that :) Fahrenheit 451 is one I'm itching to get at.

Great article, Paul. Despite photographic evidence I still picture you in my head as Dilbert :)

I'm saying this in advance because sometimes it's difficult to judge tone and intent on the internet: I'm not being flirty or sarcastic.

But isn't Paul just adorable? (This would be the not flirty part.) I love your glasses and you're lucky- I think you're one of those people who look good or better with glasses. (Not sarcastic or flirty.) My son is turning 18 soon and wanted to get contacts, so he walked around the house without his glasses for a while. Finally said that he thought he looked weird without them- and I do think he looks better with glasses, somehow.

Kind of blushing a bit now Bella

So nice to see you at last. (although I did have a chuckle at Jason's comment). I have to agree with Bella, a very warm and cuddly person you look (and like Bella, not being flirty just an ordinary judgement call). I didn't realise it before but like Lisa I had been imagining you looking a lot like Dilbert!
Also a very good article though. I'll be adding a couple of those books to my reading list.

And nice to see the real you too!

Yes, Paul has excellent taste. Sometimes I'm stuck for what to read next, and I'll go through his books- especially for non-fiction- to find my next read. Haven't been disappointed yet. Other than disappointed that some of the books aren't available in the US.

Thank you Cathy. My TBR is only slightly out of control... So I have no guilt about adding to others.

No, but it looks good Jason

message 1128: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1877 comments Yeah it does, hoping to do it in a couple of weeks.

message 1129: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 380 comments I didn't know where else to out this question so I plumped for in here...

Does anyone just mostly use the app for this site? I can leave a comment on a book I've just finished but then can't read them back say a week later. I never write reviews, just a couple of sentences to remind myself if I liked/disliked the book but lately I've had to use the review option. It's s bit irritating & just wondered if I'm doing something wrong all of a sudden?

What do people think of the new look of the web site?

I think that it ok, but I kind of wish that they will sort some of the little glitches out first.

message 1131: by Sandy (new)

Sandy | 458 comments I'm dusting book shelves today and found a book of my grandma's, which made me think of her today. The book is Slow and Sure, in the front cover it is dated 1915 with her signature. She lived to be 99 yrs. old. Seeing her handwriting took me back to my childhood and our time together.

message 1132: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1877 comments Not changed for me yet.

That was an awesome find Sandy.

message 1133: by Sandy (new)

Had an email from Good Reads today saying I was in the top 1% of reviewers, I cannot quite believe it.

message 1139: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1877 comments So did I Paul. I reckon it's the massive numbers of users who join and don't come back have pushed me into the top 1%.

I was amazed to receive same said email. I really don't review much, usually give a star rating for my reads but often don't add to that.

Thank you Seraphina. I think that it is based on the number of reviews and ratings that you have on here.

message 1145: by Trine (new)

Trine (majjalol) | 203 comments Pretty sure it is based on just the number... I got the same email aswell, and my best review ever got like 5 likes xD
