Pat Morris-jones | 1373 comments I have an older one, keyboard and 3g. Not paperwhite. If I knew how to change it to factory settings you could have it Jason as I use it on my ipad mainly now.

message 752: by Sandy (new)

Sandy | 458 comments I bought a kindle for someone as a gift and had to do a factory reset so it wasn't linked to my account. Go to settings, pick device and then restore to factory reset. Double ck to make sure it is not linked to your accounts. It's been awhile, so not sure if I'm remembering right.

message 753: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1877 comments I can't switch my one on to check the reset option is there. haha

message 754: by Sandy (new)

Sandy | 458 comments better smash it!! lol

message 755: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1877 comments I will be doing that. Might wait til bonfire night and tie a firework to it and give it a proper send off.

Your poor kindle Jason. May it RIP.

btw Kindle paperwhite - battery does not last 8 weeks like it says on the advert. No way indeed you shrill lady. *sniff*

RIP - Rocket in Peace?

I tend to find that a book only lasts a couple of days, but that is nothing to do with the battery.

RIP = regrettably in pieces

I was picking up on Jason firework comment

My daughter liked that one, but didn't think it was as good as Mr Stink.

message 762: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1877 comments This is the first David Williams book I have tried and I was expecting more from him, hopefully it will pick up soon.

message 763: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1877 comments Went and saw Axis of Awesome last night, a comedy band from Australia. Not laughed as much as that in ages.

They are amazing live, check them out on YouTube, be warned though they do swear quite a bit. fav song has to be Game of Thrones.

Off to see Dave Gorman tonight. Should be good

message 765: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1877 comments Was he any good? Seen him on TV, is he the one who rants about 48hr deodorant?

message 766: by Paul (new)

Paul (halfmanhalfbook) | 5463 comments Mod
He was brilliant. And that is the guy. He has his own series on Dave now, Modern Life is Goodish, which is worth watching as well.

message 767: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 380 comments I thought about booking to see him Paul, was he good? I remember his programme from a few years ago. He travelled right across the U.S. From coast to coast in a car but could only use independent businesses to buy petrol/food or anything else needed from. It was an excellent programme, very entertaining.

Very good. He has acute observational humour that is always with reading.
America Unchained: A Freewheeling Roadtrip In Search Of Non-Corporate USA is worth reading too

message 769: by Jackie (new)

Jackie | 380 comments Oh yes that's the one.

message 770: by Pat (new)

Pat Morris-jones | 1373 comments That reminded me. I saw Fay Weldon at Appledore Book festival earlier this month. She is an amazing woman. So funny, witty and down to earth.....and 93! Makes me feel old myself

Saw Ruth Rendell at Cheltenham festival a couple of weeks ago and got the same impressions, Pat. She is 84 now, also very down to earth and no time for over the top interpretations of her work!

Sandy | 458 comments Happy Halloween! It's time to start with my weather updates. Snow is in the forecast this evening. Usually it is later in the year when we get snow, but it is coming early this year. I live near the the Great Lakes.

Last year we had more snow on Midsummer than on Christmas. I am only half joking. Or not all... A bit of Finnish humour: https://twitter.com/Rakennusvirasto/s... ("We are ready. #weather #helsinki #midsummer") I think our winter lasted about three weeks.

And it seems to continue, I think it's still now warmer than on Midsummer. Next week about +10 degrees Celsius.

message 778: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1877 comments Still super warm here, came out of cinema last night at 1am and t-shirt was suitable clothing, so warm.
