Hey Book Viper friends. I am so behind. I am sad because I can't read right now - we just lost a dear friend at only 41 and it's been a very intense shock. I will be getting back into reading soon but I find I can't read right now. It sucks. :(

So sorry to hear about your loss Jessica, it is tragic at any time, but more poignant when someone seems so young.
Books can be a comfort and a challenge, so take as much time as you need.

message 712: by Pat (new)

Pat Morris-jones | 1373 comments Sorry to hear that Jessica.

In other news, Brazil exit the World cup through the trapdoor...

message 719: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1877 comments Finally a good match in this tournament. Taken a long time.

message 720: by Arefin (new)

Arefin | 25 comments i was almost shocked to death. I knew before the match that Germany would outclass the Brazilians. But, God! This score is humiliating! Didn't expect that!

First full weekend at home since I don't know when. No plans other than friends for a very relaxed supper and Dr Who watching for the kids tonight.

So we will mostly be enjoying the garden in the sunshine here catching up with a few jobs.

message 726: by Gail (new)

Gail | 127 comments Need to make the most of the sun today and tomorrow as the forecast is indicating a washout for Monday. Upside of that is I plan a reading day for the BH!

message 727: by Paul (new)

Paul (halfmanhalfbook) | 5463 comments Mod
Just looked at the forecast for Monday. Good grief. Proper bank holiday weather! might go to the beach today then

message 728: by Jo (new)

Jo Weston (joster) | 1697 comments Mod
Yes, outside things today and tomorrow, might be cinema or something on Monday!

message 729: by Sandy (new)

Sandy | 458 comments It's not a bank holiday here in the US but time for fairs and harvest festivals. Tonight I'm going to the German- American festival with work friends. It's kind of like Oktoberfest. I'm part German so whooo!!!

message 730: by Debbie (new)

Debbie (debbiegregory) | 585 comments What's occuring? I hope everyone is having a great summer. My apologies for being out of the loop lately.
I have decided to start my own business, it will be easier to fit around kids. Consequently I have had very little spare time and when I have, I've been reading startup business books. Yawn!!!
I have been missing reading and playing on here :)

Wow! that is a big decision Debbie. All the very best with that. What will you be doing? Has been moderately quiet on here, I think a number have been away for the summer.

I'm starting a hand-crafted business, starting on Facebook page, moving onto Etsy and similar sites. Hope to get it up and running before the end of September. Very busy making samples and learning all the boring stuff. Desperate for a bit of reading time but also thrilled to be able to make this happen.

Sounds great Debbie.

There are some great videos of authors taking the ice bucket challenge here:

How many cubes did you have in your G&T?

Have had a great afternoon at the Bournemouth Air Show. Fantastic displays by the Vulcan and the Red Arrows

message 745: by Pat (new)

Pat Morris-jones | 1373 comments Great to hear you are starting a business Debbie. Good luck with that. My dd decided she would do the green equivalent of ice bucket challenge. She agrees that it raises awareness of how it may feel to have this illness but she hates idea of wasting water and wasting fuel to get water changed into ice. Luckily we have a sea pool, free so it's even better. She jumped into that. Believe me, she told me, it felt almost as cold. We all have our own thoughts. I prefer to realise how others must feel all the time, rather than for a few minutes, whilst just giving money to charity, without getting cold or wet. Good man, Paul. Resist. Haha

message 746: by Jo (new)

Jo Weston (joster) | 1697 comments Mod
In all truthfulness, we are doing our ice challenges tomorrow as the whole family has been challenged!

Paul (halfmanhalfbook) | 5463 comments Mod
Oh no!! Are you going to buy a new one?

message 750: by Jason (new)

Jason (jasondenness) | 1877 comments yeah. I think 57 books in one year was too much for the poor thing.

gonna have to smash it up first as I don't want somebody fixing it and having access to my account.
