A few. I have issues with the texture of some foods. I eat potatoes, corn, peas, baby spinach and occasionally other things. The texture of iceberg lettuce makes me gag.

Justin Bieber appeals to a much younger demographic...

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments yes! older stuff better in my opinion.

message 58: by Laurin (new)

Laurin (llooloo) | 1867 comments Yes, I agree. The new music seems like they're trying too hard.

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Dear Laurin:
You are the PERFECT person to ask my question of. My Emma is 21. She wants to transfer to Western Michigan U. in Kalamazoo. Is this a party school? A jock school? A frat boy school? What is the deal here.

PS: All I found on the Princeton review is WMU is one of the best schools in the Midwest, and it has the best chapter of College Republicans in the USA. Hoo Boy.

Yours Sincerely,
Cynthia.

message 60: by Susan (new)

Susan | 6406 comments I think it use to be known for being a bit of a party school but Laurin needs to give you a more up to date account.

You may have to post your question in the "what color is your underwear" thread.

message 61: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia Paschen | 7333 comments Oh, shoot.

message 62: by Laurin (new)

Laurin (llooloo) | 1867 comments Yes, I would consider Western to be a party school. I've seen "western weekend" when they play football against central michigan. It's crazy. But it's also a pretty good school. Where does she go now?

message 63: by Laurin (last edited Mar 23, 2013 01:01PM) (new)

Laurin (llooloo) | 1867 comments I have friends that go there and they really like it. I've never actually been there.

She's at DMACC, Des Moines Area Community College. She lives at home for now. She wants to take advantage of the FIVE options for majors in Special Ed/Disabilities.

If she's looking for education, Central Michigan has one of the best teaching programs in the state. They also do a lot with the Special Olympics. Western also has a good teaching program.

Ricky | 45 comments Laurin,

We know of the baby boomer generation, then there were the busters, then X, Y and Z, and I might me missing a few letters or labels. What is your generation known as, or is this kind of thinking already "passé"? Do you identify with your generation at all? If so, can you speculate as to what we will say about the contribution to posterity of those born near the millennia in say, 50 years?

message 71: by Laurin (new)

Laurin (llooloo) | 1867 comments Idk if we have a name. Techies? I would say our contribution would be technology.

message 72: by Ricky (new)

Ricky | 45 comments Thanks. I tend to agree. Maybe the facebook or social media generation? My 3 year old daughter is already making a play for my I pad to solve puzzles and finger paint...

Let's face it: every school is a party school. It's part of the job description for college students.

message 81: by Kevin (new)

Kevin (ksprink) | 11469 comments i agree. if ozzie osborne went to BYU in the 70's it would have been a party school.

keep on rockin' in the free world

message 82: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Yes, what Clark says rings true to me too. I went to a nerd school for college, but on the average Saturday night it was pretty much indistinguishable from any other campus in America insofar as parties, music, mayhem and general amok-running (is that a word?) were concerned. It was fun.

message 83: by [deleted user] (new)

My sister went to Michigan Tech in Michigan's Upper Peninsula on a full-ride scholarship to study Biochemistry. The average snowfall totals up there are nothing less than staggering. I visited her a few times.

Talk about partying. What else is there to do in the dead of winter?

I think CMU has been in the top ten on Playboy's party school list. More than once.
