Even younger than I.
laurin is more mature than i am. i would have answered many of these with "derrrrrr". good job laurin. you are the "youth of the nation" voice (see POD) for many on this group. keep being genuine, sincere and having your own opinions that you can express intelligently and passionately. and for gosh sakes TURN THAT RADIO DOWN!
Dear Laurin:You are the PERFECT person to ask my question of. My Emma is 21. She wants to transfer to Western Michigan U. in Kalamazoo. Is this a party school? A jock school? A frat boy school? What is the deal here.
PS: All I found on the Princeton review is WMU is one of the best schools in the Midwest, and it has the best chapter of College Republicans in the USA. Hoo Boy.
Yours Sincerely,
Cynthia.
I think it use to be known for being a bit of a party school but Laurin needs to give you a more up to date account. You may have to post your question in the "what color is your underwear" thread.
Yes, I would consider Western to be a party school. I've seen "western weekend" when they play football against central michigan. It's crazy. But it's also a pretty good school. Where does she go now?

Western also has a good teaching program.
Laurin, We know of the baby boomer generation, then there were the busters, then X, Y and Z, and I might me missing a few letters or labels. What is your generation known as, or is this kind of thinking already "passé"? Do you identify with your generation at all? If so, can you speculate as to what we will say about the contribution to posterity of those born near the millennia in say, 50 years?
Thanks. I tend to agree. Maybe the facebook or social media generation? My 3 year old daughter is already making a play for my I pad to solve puzzles and finger paint...
Social media for sure. Although I remember a time without smart phones or.children having cell phones.

More like Generation Mommy and Daddy never told me no so I have no idea how to behave like a civilized human being.

Let's face it: every school is a party school. It's part of the job description for college students.

i agree. if ozzie osborne went to BYU in the 70's it would have been a party school.keep on rockin' in the free world
Yes, what Clark says rings true to me too. I went to a nerd school for college, but on the average Saturday night it was pretty much indistinguishable from any other campus in America insofar as parties, music, mayhem and general amok-running (is that a word?) were concerned. It was fun.
My sister went to Michigan Tech in Michigan's Upper Peninsula on a full-ride scholarship to study Biochemistry. The average snowfall totals up there are nothing less than staggering. I visited her a few times.
Talk about partying. What else is there to do in the dead of winter?

I think CMU has been in the top ten on Playboy's party school list. More than once.

I know many people who claim to support the rights of animals. They donate their money and time to no-kill shelters..."
A few. I have issues with the texture of some foods. I eat potatoes, corn, peas, baby spinach and occasionally other things. The texture of iceberg lettuce makes me gag.
