Something's not right about Cecily

So I was rereading CP and the scene where Will finds out that Mortmaine has his family "hostage" and then gets attacked by the clockwork creatures. Does anyone else find it strange that Will's family was there. I mean I don't think it is coincidence. How would Mortmaine know that Will, Jem and Tessa were there anyway unless Starkweather is working for him. That part really never gets addressed. I have a feeling Cecily knows something...or even worse works with Mortmaine. Where was Cecily coming from when she came from the carriage. Will said so himself that people are so far away that when they go and visit, they make a lengthy stay out of it. Any thoughts on this?

I disagree, although it is an excellent point and theory you've made. It'll keep me thinking...

ok so... i agree, i do think its strange that there living in that mortmaine house. im wondering if Will dad is getting mixed up in it and with cecily i think since that 'Fell' guy talked to her, (the one chatlotte hired to keep track of Will family,} well he told cecily that Will miss them, so i just think she really is going to see her brother!!

I agree. I can't think what exactly, but I do believe something's off about Cecily. I wouldn't be surprised if Mortmain had told her she could get her brother back if she went along with his plans. They're probably living in Mortmain's house because he struck a deal with them... "you can live in this house for free if..." ...I don't know, I can't work out just how wide the web he cast is...

Oh I definitely agree. There are no coincidences in Cassie's books. :P It's too conveinant that Cecily shows up after Jessamine and Nate are discovered to be working for Mortmain.

I think he's probably tricked Cecily like Lisa says, using Will as a means to get her to do what he wants by promising Will's safety or something.

Yeah, I totally agree. Just finished reading Clockwork Prince, and noticed that something's wrong with Cecily, though I did not know what. Now, when I read your comment it really makes sense to me. I think she works to Mortmain.
