Introduce Yourself
Hey Everybody! My name is Joanie Lunsford and I'm from Atlanta, Georgia. I don't have a favorite author, but drawn to psychological thrillers with a dash of rom/com for relief. Although I do love Janet Evanovich being a Jersey girl myself.
Hi everyone! I am so excited to discover a social media platform dedicated to the love of books. I am an author myself, I write poetry and children's books. I also host a podcast and review suggested books every Friday. I would love to find people with the same interest to discuss books. I am currently reading, "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill. Any book suggestions? I hope to connect with you all.
C. A. Simonsen from the prairies of Canada. Glad to meet some book lovers. I'm currently reading Two Solitudes, by Hugh MacLennan. Choosing a favorite book is tough: I might go with Fifth Business or Steppenwolf.Cheers to Oprah and her work promoting fine reading.
Hello,I would like to introduce myself, my name is Peggy and I live actually in Spain. I just wrote my first children's tale during the Covid lockdown as an homage to my wonderful furry daughter Cookie (aka a cat)
Stay all very safe
Heya! So, I'm Justin, and am interested in participating in the mother of all book clubs. Am located in Los Angeles, and while there's a lot of books on my shelf, the one I'm closing off my days with is Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. It's been on my list for quite some time.
Hi, I’m Nikki Murphy, avid reader, poet, diversity & inclusion strategist, real estate investor, 34-year-old married, mother of a 4-year-old son, based in NY. I also wrote a book, Home For Hurricanes: A Memoir of Resilience in Poetry and Prose. I liked books since I could read, but Coldest Winter Ever was the one that made me fall hard. Did that ever make Oprah’s Book Club list? Well, it should’ve. I have more unsolicited opinions, but I’ll hold until I read the next book club book.
Introducing myself: I’m Debbie Garneau Griffin. My husband Mike and I are retired and we live in an old gold-rush town in the Sierra foothills, not far from Lake Tahoe. But I grew up in a haunted house in Vermont with my single mother.Growing up, I was a big Stephen King fan, living in a spooked house and all! After I moved my elderly mother to a nursing home, I faced the daunting task of cleaning out our 150+ y/o small farmstead, which Mom had inherited. In the process, I was shocked to discover our property had been a waystation for fugitive slaves escaping along the Underground Railroad to Lake Champlain and Canada. With the help of the local historical society, we were able to save and catalog artifacts from 1850 through the Civil War and later.
After I retired from the high-tech industry, I spent a good deal of time tracing the Underground Railroad routes and personal stories of those who had been involved, throughout New England and upstate New York. My research inspired me to write a historical fiction novel that is also part memoir. It’s titled: The Eternal Conductor. I am looking forward to having it published before the end of this year. Yay!!
I am also a big fan of Colson Whitehead’s The Underground Railroad and even got him to autograph my copy…which is very cool! His fantastical version of a real ‘underground’ railroad
was quite amazing and compelling. I doubt that my first novel will be lucky enough to win a Pulitzer Prize, as Whitehead did, but I can always dream!
To learn more about the book, check out my website at: http://theeternalconductor.com/
I look forward to participating in Oprah’s great Book Club!
Very excited to announce my latest novel

That sounds like an interesting book you are writing. Good luck with it. I just published Secrets and Silence on Amazon this year and getting it ready to publish was easier than I thought it would be - the formatting for Amazon I mean. It was something that really intimidated me but it was easier than I thought it would be to put the Ebook and Print book up for sale.
Good luck with yours. It sounds like it should be really interesting researching the history. Best wishes.
Hi Belynda, Thanks for sharing your experience with publishing on Amazon. I know the publishing arena is a daunting place and can be overwhelming at times. I appreciate your support!

Hi there! I am originally from Ohio but currently from wherever the U.S. Army sends my husband and our two kiddos. We're all about making the most out of the challenges of our military lifestyle, but as a mil spouse that means many obstacles to overcome along the way. Hence, I love self-help, personal development, and inspirational books. I'm also a sports science nerd and will devour any book about the latest realistic application of research. My favorite people to follow/authors are Dr. Michael Gervais and Dr. Marc Bubbs (Peak). I've also greatly enjoyed the work of Dr. Denayne Barahona (Simple Families) and Lauren Handel (Maybe It's You). When it comes to keeping ways to optimize our mindset, well-being, or health, count me in! It's what I enjoy blogging and writing about as an author as well. Looking forward to finding some good reads here in the group!

As an author myself, focused on meditation, Buddhism and nature, I love books about these things. Current favourites are Thomas Shor's remarkable 'A Step Away from Paradise,' Florence Williams 'The Nature Fix,' and Thupten Jinpa's magisterial 'Tsongkhapa - A Buddha in the Land of Snows.' Perennial favourites are HH the Dalai Lama, Thich Nhat Hanh and my own wonderful teacher Zasep Tulku Rinpoche.
Carl Safina's 'Beyond Words' is wonderful on animal sentience, as is Frans de Waal's 'The Bonobo and the Atheist' and my bookshelf would not be complete without John Bradshaw's 'Cat Sense' by the leading cat behaviour expert!
Despite the all-too-evident evident troubles in the world right now, we are fortunate to live on the planet at a time when we also have unprecedented access to so many extraordinary beings who compassionately share their life-changing wisdom.
