message 2509: by Ursula (new)

Ursula (bronx) Hello,

I would love to be more involved in this community. Trying to set myself up to read a wider range of books in 2019. Not sure who I would pick as my favorite author because it depends on what genre I am reading. Jodi Picoult, Elizabeth Berg, and Kate Morton are some of the authors I really enjoy and always look for the new book to come out.

Is there a January book this group is reading?

message 2510: by sonya (new)

sonya marie madden | 163 comments Hi Ursula. I also love Jodi picoult

Susan Mabry | 14 comments Hi Ursula! I'm waiting patiently for the Oprah club to announce their January book...But you can click on the "bookshelf" at the top of the page and it will show all the books for each month...

Not sure when they will post it. Glad you are here and I love all genres too.

Roxanne Coady on Just the Right Book podcast has wonderful picks and you might like that too.

I just read "Where the crawdads sing" by Delia Owens and it was my top book for 2018 along with EDUCATED by Tara Westover.

Enjoy and Welcome!
Susan :)

Where the Crawdads SingWhere the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was my favorite 2018 book of the year, besides EDUCATED by Tara Westover. Delia Owens has written a literary classic that will be cherished forever. She raises so many questions about what is our ethical duty as a community and church when we see extreme poverty and isolation. I identified with Kya and her silent supporters who kept her alive, fed and nourished. A beautiful story of love, nature and survival trumping man’s prejudices and cruelty. Highlighted most of the book!

message 2535: by David (new)

David Gomadza (davidgomadza) | 3 comments Hi everyone I am David Gomadza Founder and President of Tomorrow's World Order. A global political party registered in Great Britain and spreading around the globe. I believe mankind has failed as we have been stuck in what I call defensive stages; the primitive stages in the human development cycle. A stage less advanced as mankind has little resources and thinks only inside the box. Where with the little resources he has he makes weapons and then uses the weapons to get everything else he needs. [PICTURE 1980s gangster movies] The very reasons of waging wars, killing innocent women and children. But there is a way or is there? Here comes Tomorrow's World Order. We can live on earth as in this heaven they talk about for I believe its a stage of human development so advanced that we imitate this heaven. And I am the one to take you there. The good news is that I have recently finished writing two books Evelina The Alpha and the Omega [Series]. The books are futuristic and lays the road we might take and the obstacles we might face and how to go about this issues. A journey we must take. So the books are somehow futuristic. Everything to shout about. Are you ready? I am? Check all my books here CLICK https://play.google.com/store/books/a...

Tennessee is my home. I am a mother and wife. Sadly, I am no longer a sister or daughter. Many loved ones have passed away in my family. I have chosen to call myself Blue. Most recently finished a book by Jean Rhys. The title is [i]Voyage In The Dark[/i}.

It's about a young woman and friends trying to make a living as chorus girls. Life isn't easy for working women. It's still not easy. It's a very short book.
