Hi Ankita, I am in Canada and also love reading. The Kite Runner was great, as was his A Thousand Splendid Suns!
I have a little notebook and write down the names of books that sound appealing, or that have been recommended to me. It is hard to choose which ones to request from the library!
Some of my favourite authors are Anne Tyler, Richard Russo, and Barbara Kingsolver.
Good luck deciding what to read next.

Shivi (legendaryjuno) Hi, i myself shivangi kapoor here, i reside from india. I am a law graduate and in the process of creating own identity in this chaotic world. I don't read lot of books but when i read some life changing or self-help books it gives me food for thought that what is the sole purpose of a person in this whole world or are we serving the right purpose. After those books i started reading those books which gives focus on today's reality, crime fiction.

Paullett Golden (paullettgolden) | 4 comments Hello, Everyone! My name is Paullett Golden. I'm a college professor who lives for most of the year in Texas and the rest of the year in England. I'm excited to join this group because in-person book clubs are difficult to find, and this club not only offers a wide range of genres to explore but a great opportunity to really discuss the readings. I can't honestly say I favour one author over others because I read in so many genres. I can't very well compare Tolkien to Nietzsche, for instance, or Balogh to Rowling. Needless to say, I love books from every genre and can't wait to join in the group discussions! Thanks for having me!

message 2478: by Susan (new)

Susan Steip | 5 comments I have always wondered how one becomes a college professor?
What steps in your education/training lead you to being a college professor?
I love a wide range of genres myself. i live in a small rural community in Ontario,Canada.
Hope you enjoy the group.
Welcome,
Sue

Paullett Golden (paullettgolden) | 4 comments Hi, Sue! Thanks for the warm welcome! I never even thought about being a college professor until one of my professors approached me about it. She asked if I'd like to tutor at the school and take an independent study with her. I was intrigued so I said yes to all. And that's where it all started. I enjoyed tutoring so much and enjoyed mastering the subject so much that I started attending conferences, hosting workshops in the tutoring center, and soon a future teacher was born. ;)

Of course, here are a few I enjoy: Omar Tyree, Toni Morrison, Zane, Octavia Butler, E. Lynn Harris and Maya Angelo.

Though these authors are my fav I don't mind delving into books of new and upcoming authors. A great story can be found in many of us.

My fave books atm are the Harry Potter series - I put them down a while ago and just picked them up recently and read all of them - wowza so many life lessons of inclusion and bravery I’m taken aback by them 💕
I totes know they’re a bit more in the younger end but I kinda wanted a brain rest and they provided it nicely
