Hi, my name is Alex. I am Austrian but live in Australia. I love the sun, ocean, kitesurfing and well... reading (sci-fi and spirituality).
Last year I thought I'll give it a try and start writing - I've been thinking about writing a book - a mix of classical sci-fi, environmental and spiritual topics - for some time and last October it suddenly felt like the right time to get started. So... voila... I have finished two books and self-published on Amazon only about a month ago (Title: Humans and other Aliens). Working on a third book right now and still loving it.

I must say, just scrolling through this thread, there is an immense amount of diversity! I love that we have the technology available to us to all "get together" and share common interests.

As a child, I had a passion for reading anything and everything. Finishing graduate school a few years back and starting my career, I have since fallen away from my passions relating to the literature arts. I joined this group, and GoodReads in general, in hopes that I could slowly gain that back. I have always been a fan of F. Scott Fitzgerald's writing and Jodi Picoult. I really love classics and autobiographies; I am admittedly not a huge fan of fantasy. I'm not sure that I could name a single favorite title, though.

A wonderful book for you to read would be Smell The Raindrops by BA Austin. It is available on Amazon and listed on Goodreads. It is an Intimate Memoir of her life and it is a journey which includes privilege, heartbreak, addiction, recovery, triumph, inspiration, courage, and strength. If you like genuine human interest stories then you will love this book by this remarkable woman.

Runaway Jury and The Client are both great Grisham novels. And pretty much everything by Stephen King. Read the entire Dark Tower series, starting with The Gunslinger. But I especially like The Green Mile. I just love people who can do extraordinary things!

Love historical women's fiction? Try The Saturday Evening Girls Club by Jane Healey, first book by this author. It's available on Amazon. The story takes place in the North End of Boston in the early 1900's. I loved the girls and their struggles to grow in this new world and culture.
