Cindy Tomamichel Hi All,
I am Cindy, an author from Australia. My book Druid's Portal is a time travel action adventure romance set in Roman Britain in the shadows of Hadrian's Wall.

I loved reading from an early age, with a preference for action and adventure, and old scifi. Looking forward to hearing about new books to add to the list.

message 2168: by Devi (new)

Devi (devidiguida) | 5 comments Hello Everyone, My name is Devi Di Guida. I was born in Guyana but currently live in Montreal, Canada. I love to read - mostly books that are of mixed genres , suspense and thrillers, romance and mystery. The biggest draw for me is when the book is set in a part of the world that I have never visited and my brain can escape to that location. I have just finished writing my first novel titled The Cayman Hustle, a book that narrates the story of a deaf man, inspired by a deaf college graduate I met on a beach in the Cayman Islands. Give it a read. This deaf man has tall tales to tell, and takes on some billionaires in their own preconceived game. Give it a read.

Laurel McHargue (leadvillelaurel) Hello from the highest incorporated town in the US, Leadville, Colorado! This is Laurel, and I'd have to say that I am totally in love with everything Steinbeck has written (so far...I'm still working through his books)! I love reading many different genres, so I'll never say I have one favorite book. Writers who make me laugh, cry, get angry, or inspire any kind of emotion are the best. I also love savoring sensational sentences.

I'm old school, I prefer hard copy or paperback. I like turning pages. My preferred genres are autobiographies, murder mysteries, suspense, comedies and love stories, not necessarily romance novels.

Theresa | 1 comments Hello, my name is Theresa. I'm from Michigan and I don't have a favorite book. Most of my reading material has always involved children books and required course material. This is my opportunity to begin reading for my own personal interest.

message 2188: by Theresa (new)

Theresa John | 2 comments My name is Theresa and I live in Pikesville, MD. I am a 72-year-old great-grandmother who loves to write. My first book, Bursting Through the Clouds: Life Reflections and Memories, has just been published. This is Book I of my trilogy of life. It is a memoir of my childhood in 1950’s Jim Crow South and my journey to young adulthood in New York. A synopsis of my book can be found on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

These brave and honest reflections and memories describe a life unlike how we live in today’s world. Although this is a book that will appeal to all ages, many of the recollections will resonate with the childhood of the “silent generation” and “baby boomers” across the country. It offers a nostalgic look at a bygone era and addresses the unique challenges that continue to define an entire generation. This memoir gives voice to many who shared similar memories growing up, and readers will identify with one or more of the stories in my book.

Writing this book was my rare opportunity to relive my most profound moments with all the joy and all the pain of growing up in the 1950’s. I bring these memories to life on the pages of my book so that generations can intimately experience them. Some stories are humorous, some serious, some frightening, some heartbreaking, some traumatic. I reveal some of my and my family’s deepest and darkest secrets for the first time. I remember the impact my mother and my grandmother had on my life. My journey back has been a therapeutic process and I find relief knowing that I have had my say.

As we age, there is a need to be heard. The rumors about failing memory are real. Our long and short-term memory lessens and our mind starts to play tricks on us. We have difficulty remembering what is real, and what is imagined. We have difficulty separating reality from fantasy.

There is no better gift to give than the gift of immortality. My memoir is a chance for my grandchildren, my great-grandchildren to get to know me; for my living siblings to see into my soul. Writing about my life provides an opportunity for others to share in my journey and to connect their life to mine.

All lives are worth living and I want to encourage everyone to write their story.

message 2189: by Shirley T. (new)

Shirley T. Harris | 3 comments Good day everyone,

I am Shirley Harris I am an author, speaker and professional life coach. I've written my first book, Conversations With The Little Girl Within which will be released Fall of this year. It is a book about dealing with unresolved childhood issues.

There are billions of children disguised as adults who live recklessly as adults because of unresolved childhood issues. Throughout my life I've encountered hundreds of adults who are well into life that still talks freely about their traumatic issues stemming from childhood, yet many don't attribute the negative effect appropriately to their current relationships and lifestyle.

They've relieved and retold their stories thousands of times and with the same emotional intensity. Many have resigned to living a less than fulfilling life because they remain stuck emotionally at the age of their traumatic childhood experience.

It is my intention for this book to provoke people to reflect over their lives and recognize areas where they may feel stuck; an area that could be the result of an unresolved child hood matter.

Lisa (lovelisaserrano) | 6 comments Hi y’all! I’m from Austin, TX & I am an avid reader. We have a few local book shops here that I frequent, I am not a chain store kind of gal. I do however support BOTM because they feature new authors & they have great prices. I give much more money to my local shops. Malvern books is a great shop here that features books from other countries & local writers. BookWoman is a local shop that features independent local writers. Of course, I’ve been shopping BookPeople since I was a kid(ATX born & raised)local books, book readings/signings. I recently answered a question about favorite book/author/book that changed my life. The bible changes my life everyday. I always go to it when I need guidance or an answer. I taught my son to read chapter books with my old hardback copy of To Kill A Mockingbird & still have it. I also shared with him my copy of Night by Elie Wiesel & still have it & buy anyone a copy if they never read it. I enjoy The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo & it changed my life. I recently(last week) read Donna Tartt’s The Secret History & I enjoy her writing. I crave every word & I notice that have the book is her laying out the scene, but it was needed & I wanted it. I wanted to read this book before her known book Goldfinch, I’m reading TOBC book, Behold The Dreamer, then I will read acclaimed Goldfinch sitting by my bed, 1 of my book club book, my second book club book & so on. I’ll see if my fave writer changes along the way again...

Mark Levine | 2 comments Hi To Everyone: My name is Mark and I am from Boston. If you are interested in reading a truly wonderful human interest story then I highly recommend the book SMELL THE RAINDROPS by BA Austin. It is her Intimate Memoir and tells of a journey which begins with privilege and includes a life of heartbreak, addiction, recovery, triumph, inspiration, strength, and courage. This very easy to read less than 200 page memoir was written by an amazing woman with a powerful and compelling story to tell.
