I agree, some are very close to the book. But it seems to me the more popular the book is the more the industry change it. Why? I don't know.

A. White | 18 comments If anyone like reading about the supernatural and the immortals give my books a try. "Unholy Pursuit: The Devil on My Trail" is a futuristic story about a young woman facing all sort of persecution and unrealistic obstacles plague her at every turn and how these supernatural inspired events built character in her.

message 1803: by Roger (new)

Roger Raffee | 21 comments Hello, I have just posted my first book for sale on Amazon.

I would like to offer a free copy of the book to the first 100 people that contact me. Here is a brief synopsis, to make sure it's something you might like to read:

In the summer of 1973, a fourteen year old kid spends time with his grandfather and his friends, George Burns, Jack Benny, Georgie Jessel, and others, as they play cards at the Hillcrest Country Club near Beverly Hills, California. He later sits down to listen as his grandfather tells him the action-packed tale of his great-grandfather, the first Jewish Texas Ranger, and how his grandfather came to Hollywood to become one of the pioneers of the movie industry.
The young man learns about how his grandfather came to be friends with the early stars of the silver screen, like Tom Mix, William S. Hart, Lionel Barrymore, and Doug Fairbanks, and his grandfather's association with the great Mexican revolutionary leader Pancho Villa, the famous lawman Wyatt Earp, and other fascinating characters.

Thank you,

-Roger Raffee (new author)

I'm 22 years old student from Sudan( very far away from everyone here as I've read in the previous comments , I hope you guys don't mind me ). I don't have a favorite author however I would say that my favorite book is any book I could really interact emotionally and intellectually with and gets stuck in my brain. I've experienced this with two books so far( I don't always read books ) A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khalid Hussaini and Warm Bodies by Isaac Mendez.

I read with my ears..that is to say I'm an audiobook listener. I've found that listening to a book..a story..gives you an entirley different perspective than reading with your eyes. Right now, I don't have a favorite author. I'm open to all genres. And I must say that I'm really excited about sharing in "The Underground Railroad" experience with you.

What I love of this author is her old-fashioned approach with life and also of course this connection between past and present. Truly fascinating.

I also love and love and love Joanne Harris because extremely profound, she is able to give voice at the hidden part of the world.

I love reading and I review books in my spare time: please visit my blog: alfemminile.blogspot.it

Hi, Linda. I'm wondering; where do you call home? A little info on my book—the largest mass execution in U.S. history took place in Mankato, Minnesota. One rope cut, 38 Dakota Sioux die–Largest mass execution in US history–Lincoln pardons 1. My historical novel, The Thirty-ninth Man, follows Anton McAllister as he experiences growth in moral commitment as I place him in the midst of historically accurate events. Available at Barnes & Noble, Amazon, local bookstores and signed copies from me via, daswan2@gmail.com or www.dale-swanson.com. You can see on-line reviews on Amazon under "The Thirty-ninth Man."

message 1814: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jstallwo) My name is Jessica and I'm from Jackson, Michigan, although my heart resides in Ann Arbor (Go Blue!).

My all time favorite book is Cane River by Lalita Tademy. After I read it I became obsessed with finding out more about my own family history. It became the catalyst for a live of historical fiction and also helped justify that MA in history. The book was extremely well written and had more layers than an onion. I have recommended it to many people and have even gifted it to several, in hopes of inspiring others to embark on their own journey of self-discovery.

Hello everyone! My name is Evie, I am a physicist, I 'm from Greece, currently living in Italy, and obviously I love reading. :-) I do not know a lot about modern north American literature, but hope I can find a few good suggestions here. Favourite author... difficult, very difficult (I could say Yannis Xanthoulis, he is a Greek author, by no means a classic, he writes weird stories, the protagonists normally are troubled people, very often middle aged, with some weird past full of pain. I have read all his books I think). Favourite book.... veeeery difficult. I will skip that. Currently I am reading Gone with the Wind and enjoying it.

Favorite books read: 100 Years of Solitude by Gabriel Marquez and anything by William Faulkner. I'm one of those English majors who loves heady stuff. Wish I could write like those two.

I'm a member of a book club that reads mostly light women's fiction. So I will be reading that over the coming year. It's not my favorite, but it's what my book club prefers. Perhaps I need a new book club?
