Hello! Paula from England. I love to read - always have done. Currently averaging one book a day as I am on sick leave from work.

Favourite authors include Peter James, Steven Booth and Peter Robinson - British crime authors. Though I read anything that takes my interest!

Because I read a lot of dark and heavy stuff, I also read chick lit and easy beach reads to lift the gloom of my usual reads!

I'm in a reading group at my local library and I love how it's broadened my reading horizons.

I love to read and have a serious book obsession! My bookshelves are my pride and joy and I display all my books proudly. If I had my way my books would be the focal point in my living room rather than the TV!

My dream is to own a house large enough that I can have a small 'library' :)

I'm new to chat groups but not to Goodreads and I'm dipping my toe in to try find new people to chat with

message 1632: by George (last edited Aug 04, 2016 04:04PM) (new)

George Stokes | 6 comments On our current book:
The underground rail road. I just started it am so excited:

I am at the beginnings and Cora is facing the vandalism of her garden.
I find that as the older I get, this mirrors how our personal endeavors are challenged by out side forces and how we have to take some type of stand to protect them and what we want.
The challenge can be a mob of intimidating people.
An old belief in what we should do or be or social or societal.
It looks like what happiness we set out for our selves and cultivate is challenged by out side forces. It seems like it's when we are trying to get along or act in conformity most. But at the same time make something out of that for our own lives, it gets threatened.
It seems like the book is showing that this person is trying to be a part of that society, like others slaves but is begging, can I have a small piece of something for me. Her friend gets to enjoy dance and music at in the society what does she get.
