My name is Kimberly and I currently live in Birmingham, Alabama. I love quick reads during the summer, so right now I'd say my favorite author is Lianne Moriarty. I also love books with unique/quirky characters like The 600 Hours of Edward (Craig Lancaster) and Something's Missing (Matthew Dicks).

Lisa Goich | 2 comments My name is Lisa Goich. I'm a Detroiter living in Los Angeles. A former comedian and talk radio host, I now work for the GRAMMY Awards running the Jazz & Comedy genres. My husband is a musician (Teddy Andreadis), formerly of Guns 'n' Roses, Alice Cooper, Carole King, now touring with Billy Bob Thornton and The Boxmasters. We have four dogs who all love cuddling up in bed with me when I read. I'm an author (we can't promote here, so I won't) with a book being published in November. Mitch Albom provided the foreword for my book.

My favorite book of all time is Watership Down. I wish I could write a book like that. It was the first time as a reader that I was able to transport myself into this magical world taking place on the page. It changed my life.

My writing heroes include: Dorothy Parker, Nora Ephron and Carl Hiaasen.

Someday I hope to live in the Caribbean and do nothing but write. Ahhhhhhh, a girl can dream.

How about you? What's your dream?

message 1465: by Aida (last edited Sep 26, 2015 07:45AM) (new)

Aida Hi all! I only now discovered Oprah had a bookclub here on goodreads. (Where have I been?) I'm a retired NYC teacher, currently living in the upper Hudson Valley area, in the state of New York. I am a firm believer and support the Public Library system. One of my goals as a teacher was to instill my same love of books and reading in my students. There are so many books that I've enjoyed reading throughout the years that it's difficult to pinpoint any one particular favorite author. I read just about anything from classic literature to modern novellas. I'm not too much into romance or adult errotic books though if done well or intellectually, I'll give one a try. I prefer to read books that have me pondering and getting into the 'meat' of the story and that entertains one's sensibilities at the same time! I participate in one other book club in goodreads so it will be interesting to see how I juggle the two! Looking forward to many a discussions.

Well, it's not exactly a reinvention, it's more like embracing my truth. I recently revised and re-released a novel started in 2011 called THE WINO MUST DIE. It's the story of an eight year old who loses his grandmother and the only home he has ever known, then spends the rest of his life trying to find his way.

I look forward to participating in the group.

Marilyn Wilson (marilynrwilson) | 2 comments My name is Marilyn and I'm in Vancouver, BC. No favourites. I'm an avid reader of a wide range of authors and for fun, do book reviews for iRead Book Tours. Book reviewing is a great way to explore new authors. I'm also a published author myself.

One book that still stands out that I read a long time ago is The Doomsday Book by Connie Willis. While technically SF, the story is centered around a visitor from the future who ends up stranded in a village when the black plague comes. Powerful visual of that time in history.
