This was a astounding book about the Great Migration. It was so well done that I'm looking for more narrative non-fiction. My last favorite author is John Grisham. I'm looking forward to reading "Sycamore Row".

I love The Goldfinch so much I ran out and got The secret History by Donna Tartt. Glad to hear that you liked it. Looking forward to reading it.

2. Tough to pick a favorite... big fan of classic 'hard-boiled' crime writers like Hammett and Chandler and some of their modern counter parts like Sakey, Swierczynski, Huston and Chercover. Best series I read in recent years would be Larsson's Millennium Trilogy.

Over the past 18 months I've mainly been reading non-fiction - pretty much anything by Malcolm Gladwell. Blink is my favourite from him.

I'm reading Goldfinch too. I've enjoyed Donna Tartt's other novels but am finding this one a bleak read so far. Maybe I need to persevere.
