I'm Taylor for the northwest suburbs of Chicago. I enjoy historical fiction and science fiction. I also enjoy books having to do with autism. I have not found a favorote author yet.
Hi Taylor. I have not read too many books with autism as a theme or subject, but I recently read The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time. I did not know what it was about before I started it, but it was a pretty good story.
Hi, I'm Tony from Brooklyn. More often than not, my interest or disinterest in a book is based mainly on HOW the story is told and less than WHAT that story is about. That's why I am enjoying Nordica Francis's novel "WHITE PAINT ON HER FOREHEAD" so very much. It is simply a well written book with a style that has to be reflective of the author's own sophistication.
Hello, my name is Ebony. I enjoy reading classics and anything positive and helpful. However; I'm always open to exploring new books. I'm from Chicago and besides reading I enjoy cooking and just be creative.
Hi all, my name is Jason. I am joining you from Lexington, South Carolina.
My favorite author is William Gay. He passed last year, but he wrote the best southern fiction ever published.
I am so happy to be reading this book along with everyone else!

Hi, I'm Michael Anson, from a very small town, almost a village, an hour and a half outside of Chicago, called Sugar Grove. I'm a grad student at Northwestern, getting a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) in creative writing, and love talking about books. My all-time favorite book has to be "A Prayer for Owen Meany," by John Irving. It's a great read, if you ever get a chance. I'm WAY, WAY behind on getting started on the online Oprah book club, but I have now officially gotten an audio book copy of "The Twelve Tribes of Hattie" so I should be up to speed soon. Feel free to shoot me an encouraging response email. I look forward to getting to know y'all.
Hello everyone, my name is Ariane and I am joining you from Québec Canada. I have never read novels but the last book I liked is The new executive brain by Elkhonon Goldberg. I like books that reveal a little more about who we are at every level: physical, emotional, rational, ideal and universal. Looking forward to read your thoughts on books relating to these subjects!!
Christy wrote: "Hello. I'm from Queens, NY. I generally read a lot of nonfiction but would like to focus more on fiction. My favorite novel is "The Kite Runner." I am a fan of animals - especially cats and turtle,..."Don't be too shy. Anyone who reads the New Yorker and New York Times regularly is alright in my book. I get both every week, but frequently find other distractions. I did, however, last night read parts of the latest issue of the New Yorker, and found the article about Hilary Clinton especially interesting. I liked the Kite Runner, but didn't put it at the top of my list, but as I look back on it, it has really stuck with me in a way few novels have, and I can still vividly remember many scenes.
Hi- I'm Justine. I'm from CA... Reading is one of my favorite pastimes! However, my favorite author/ book is... it's hard to narrow it down! Some of my faves include Louisa Alcott, Walter Dean Myers, Benilde Little, Khaled H., Kristen Hannah, etc. etc!!!
Oh yeah!! I almost forgot : I recently read Silver Sparrow by Teyari Jones - it was one of the best books I had ever read! Miss Jones is now of my favorite authors! :-)
Hey guys!!! I'm Rebecca, a book blogger over at Love at First Book and have been reading as many of Oprah's Book Club books as possible! I've read about half of the books so far, and am going to try to stay more "with it" by reading them in order (while I still go back to read the older ones) from now on. I just started The Twelve Tribes of Hattie yesterday and will probably finish it today (tomorrow at the latest) because I'm loving it! Ayana Mathis is coming to my town later in February, and I cannot wait to meet her in person!
I read mainly literary fiction along with classics and some nonfiction.
Um. . . I think that's it for now!

I'm reading it right now (I'm kind of in the middle of introvert/extrovert), and you might enjoy it as an introvert!

I'm Taryn, from Vancouver, British Columbia (in Canada). I am a complete lover of historical fiction, and some of my favorites are Phillipa Gregory and Ken Follett. Both are great storytellers and really get you tied into the lives of their characters. Much the way that Ayana Mathis did in 12 tribes!

Hi All!My name is Shavonda and I am from Northern Virginia(outside of DC). Some of my favorite authors (can't choose just one) are Beverly Jenkins, Eric Jerome Dickey, and Leo Tolstoy. I have always loved to read and write. My ultimate passion, however, is editing. I have always been adept at spotting grammatical errors. Being an editor allows me to correct those troublesome mistakes and get paid to do it. ;) I really enjoy helping new authors sculpt their manuscripts into organized, entertaining, and engaging reads for their audiences.
Hi Vonda I'm Larry from Atlanta. I love writing and reading good books from a multitude of diverse authors. Stay Close !

Vonda, what a wonderful career you have. I am envious!
Hello to all, My name is Marian, and I am a life long resident of Birmingham, Alabama. I have just finished and published my first novel,"The Royal Rose of Alabama." Even though I travel quite a bit in the U.S. and abroad, I find myself choosing books about the South in the U.S. "Gone With the Wind" and "To Kill a Mockingbird" are two of my favorites. The authors of these novels, wrote only one novel, to my knowledge, and both became best sellers. Ace Atkins is an author that I enjoy reading also. I like his style, the mystery in his books and....the fact that his first books dealt again, with happenings in the South, got my attention. Because I have lived quite a long life now, and have witnessed so many of the changing times of life in the South, I will always be more in tune with Southern writers. Now, please do not think I am narrow minded, as I do venture out, lol, and will enjoy being a part of this group.
Hi, I'm Deborah from Maryland. I love books by Amy Tan, Carlos Ruíz Zafon, Isabel Allende, and others. I've been keeping a log of books read since 1995. So glad to start an electronic list.
Hello, my name is Desiree from Boston, MA. I love to read about history and historical fiction. I like drama and action. I have a small group and we read different books and discuss them afterward. We are currently reading Tears Fall At Night by Vanessa Miller.
Hi, I'm Karl and I live in Oregon. My favorite author is Graham Greene, and in fact, I've just returned from Vienna. There I was able to track down many of the film locations that were used in making the movie of "The Third Man". If you haven't seen it, it is one of those rare movies that is better than the novel itself, due mainly to terrific performances by Orson Welles and Joseph Cotton. I was also able to introduce my novel while there ("A Lesion of Dissent") to a post-colonial writers'fair and hear a lot of good music.
my name is Ruth. i currently live in brampton, ontario, canada!! i love to read obviously ;)my favourite author is nicholas sparks. i have read almost all of his books and i look forward to finishing them all!! I do also enjoy reading other authors, especially new ones!!!
Hi Ruth, my name is Marian and welcome to Goodreads. I see you like to read works from new authors. My Novel, "The Royal Rose of Alabama" is being printed now. It will be out in two weeks. I would love for you to read it and comment on it. Have a wonderful day in Toronto. I have family there.
Hello everyone. I'm Kamil ;). I'm form Poland. I created my goodreads account a few days ago and discovered this group. Maybe I'm new, but I see that I'm going to visit this place quite often ;)
Ok, now about my favorite authors. Actually I've got only one who I really adore (from a literary point of view of course) - Cormac McCarthy. This guy is amazing and I love his works. BTW. Any Cormac's fans here? ;)
I hope to spend some really good time here.

While I've been active on goodreads for a number of years, I found out about this wonderful bookclub on twitter (through an invite)!
I have favorite books more so than..."
I'm so sorry, I didn't see your comment asking about the must reads currently on my list until going back through notifications!
One that I just finished was The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks which has been on my to-read list for some time. 5 of 5 goodreads stars! An incredible, fascinating book. Well researched, well written (non-fiction that flows like fiction) and thought provoking.
Another on my list is The Twelve Tribes Of Hattie because I'm still awaiting its arrival via the library. After watching Oprah's interview with Ayana Mathis yesterday morning on OWN, I may have to splurge and treat myself to a copy! I'm even more anxious to read it now.
