Marina Hello!!!! Im Marina.
My favorite author is J.K.Rowling, or J. R. R. Tolkien, or is it Umberto Eco? Oh well I can't decide. It's so hard to choose. Anyway I love reading books

KC Rhoads (kc_rhoads) | 6 comments My name is KC Rhoads. My favorite possession as a child hands down, was my library card.
I have my new book out "The Corn Stalker: An Uncomfortable Truth" available now. I wrote it because I felt that the gift of 20/20 hindsight after tragedy was something I needed to share. The story simply would not leave me alone.
Now that I have that book completed, I feel I can enjoy other authors again before my next book.
There is nothing better than cuddling up in a comfortable chair or by a fireplace with a book that captivates my interest

Michael Mayer (michaelalanmayer) | 2 comments Hi,
I'm Michael Alan Mayer, retired 30 year airline professional and author of 'Time Trippers: The Nights of the Round Table.' I was inspired by and in some ways modeled my story on some of my favorite books: Jack Finney's masterful 'Time and Again,' Herman Wouk's 'Winds of War' and 'War and Remembrance,' and George MacDonald Fraser's 'Mr. American,' all of whom grasp history in the narrative in a most engaging way. I read history extensively such as Jon Parshall's 'Shattered Sword. As a result, I am very picky about my fiction, and it needs to really grab me. I prefer accurate historical fiction, such as Ken Follet's 'The Fall of Giants' which I'm reading now. Time and Again by Jack Finney Mr. American by George MacDonald Fraser The Winds of War by Herman Wouk Shattered Sword The Untold Story of the Battle of Midway by Jonathan Parshall Fall of Giants (The Century Trilogy #1) by Ken Follett Time Trippers by Michael Alan Mayer

Jenn Burt | 2 comments My name is Jenn and I live in Raleigh, North Carolina. It would be impossible for me to name a favorite book or author because my tastes vary so widely.

I've read a lot of selections from the original Oprah club. Some I adored and some I could have done without, but in general it seems that Oprah and I are on the same page when it comes to taste in books :) Thus, here I am for 2.0!

I read Wild last week (to get caught up!) and I'm starting Twelve Tribes today!

Ellen | 1 comments Hello all. I'm Ellen from Long Island, New York. It is hard for me to select a favorite author because I am an English teacher and teach many authors who I enjoy teaching, many authors, both new and old that I enjoy reading, and many Oprah selected authors who I read as well. I am often asked for recommendations which I do give, however I have lists and lists of books that I still want to read. Definitely not enough hours in a day.

message 590: by Christine (new)

Christine | 1 comments Hi everyone!

I'm Christine and I am originally from NJ but currently living in Pittsburgh as I finish my undergrad degree. I don't necessarily have a favorite book or author (there are just too many to name - I can't possibly choose just one as my favorite!) But if I had to choose, I would say that Gloria Naylor is probably one of my favorite authors of all time. Recently, I also loved reading A Thousand Splendid Suns!

I can't wait to start reading The Twelve Tribes of Hattie :)

message 591: by Anna (new)

Anna | 3 comments Hi! I am Anna from the Philippines. There are so many good authors so it's hard to single out a favorite. I get interested in various kinds of books from classics to contemporary to memoirs and biographies. If somebody tells me a certain book is worth reading I put it in my list and try to read it soon. I love discussing about the books that I've read. I joined this group for more book recommendations.

Happy reading everyone!

Michele Brenton (banana_the_poet) | 1 comments 1. Where are you joining us from? Hello I'm Michele. I live Wales (where Charlotte Church and Catherine Zeta-Jones and Anthony Hopkins come from) UK near Cardiff - the home of Doctor Who and Torchwood.

2. What is your favorite book or author?
I think that has got to be the most difficult question in the world to answer. It is probably easier to say what genres I enjoy most and those are: fantasy, science-fiction, children's books and books which cast a different eye on the world and let me see from somebody else's perspective.

message 596: by Linda (last edited Dec 20, 2012 05:07AM) (new)

Linda (mspianobug) Hello, my name is Linda and I live in Toronto.

I could never answer what my favourite author or book is because I think I love pretty much all of them. It is rare that I find a book that I truly don't like. However, there are lots that I love more than others.

Love John Grisham, Michael Connelly and Ken Follett.

Among my favourites are tomes such as The Thornbirds, Pillars of the Earth, Fall of Giants, etc. In my younger days I read every single book that Catherine Cookson ever wrote. I guess you could say my tastes are varied and eclectic.

I try to read at least one non fiction book every month or two as well just to keep me "real".
