Welcome to the group Jo.I enjoyed Memoirs of a Geisha, although found the ending a bit disappointing.
I've also got a copy of Wolf Hall waiting to be read. I've made myself move it to the tbr pile for this year, by putting it on my challenge list. It's getting very close to the top, so it's looking likely I'll be reading it in April! If you're interested in having a buddy read of it, I'll set up a thread for it. I could do with some encouragement to keep me reading it!! Have tried and given up in the past, through lack of time.
Hi,I am Alex, I live in the South West but I was born in Bucks.
Um I like reading in a variety of genres and also writing:)
Other than that I live films, theatre, history and nature. I have rabbit and three guinea pigs who all all naughty.
Which part of Bucks are you both from, Alex & Jo?We lived in Amersham and then moved out to Chalfont St Giles when I was a teenager.
My husband's from Dorset, and I've been living here for nearly 12 years.
Hi. Paul from Manila. Became an "active reader" early last year. Basically just poking around and looking for book suggestions. I've read and enjoyed the Milenium Trilogy, Yann Martel, some David Foster Wallace and Ian Rankin. Quite a hodge podge roster of authors so anything good you guys can suggest would be welcome. Cheers! :)

We have book challenges, and monthly group reads where we nominate and read a fiction and a non-fiction book choice, and we also have a classic book read, which is currently Les Misérables.

Ohhh I was born and raised in Amersham. My dad still lives there, and my sis and her folks live in Chesham:)
Alex and Elizabeth. I grew up in Beaconfield, then Gerrards Cross. Went to school in High Wycombe. My parents now live in Stoke Poges... Small world - I knew Amersham and Ch St Giles really well!
I know the area quite well too, as I used to work in Gerrards Cross, and still have friends there. Hoping to come back for a visit next year!
Hi, I'm Steph.I'm from Nottingham; I've just found this group and thought it looked very interesting (especially the 2013 challenge, which I have already started picking out books for.) I will read pretty much anything, so I thought joining a group might give me ideas rather than wandering aimlessly through Waterstones picking random titles. :)

Hi Steph, welcome to the group.
We have several challenges running at the moment, together with the monthly group reads, and the classic group read (which we've just introduced and is every other month).
Our group reads for April are My Cousin Rachel by Daphne Du Maurier and French Children Don't Throw Food by Pamela Druckerman.
And the classic group read, if you like more of a challenging read, is Les Miserables by Victor Hugo.
Sarah - I am way up the other end of Essex, Saffon Walden direction.
Hi Steph. I'm pretty new around here too. Lots of really good suggestions and ideas, I've added several things to my TBR list since joining this group!

Hi everyone,Joined this group weeks ago in hopes it would give me the incentive to get out f my reading rut, but instead have been too busy even to post a hello, let alone read anything!
Anyway, I'm Melanie, live in London with hubby and 6yo son, and I run a coffee shop cum gallery. Up for reading most things as I have pretty varied tastes, but tend to avoid chick lit - tried it a few times, but always find it dissatisfying since the characters always seem to be dumbed down. Quite open to being proved wrong on this :-)
Look forward to getting to know you all,
m x
Hello Melanie! Welcome to our group, hopefully you'll find a good read to get you back into reading :)
Thanks, Jen :-)Having thought I'd had no time for reading, I've discovered that between reading before I sleep and waiting for doctors' appointments and the like, I've still managed to read 4 of the books on my 2013 Challenge list, so clearly been managing more than I thought!
But it will be nice to be sharing the reading of new books with other people. My husband doesn't read for pleasure, so can't share with him, so this is exactly what I need.
Hi Melanie. Welcome to the group! We've got plenty of challenges and group reads to immerse yourself in and we all love to chat about books on here :)
Hi, I'm Connie. I am a retired English teacher, and I am currently tutoring Japanese adults and high school students. (just enough to stay involved with teaching) I love reading almost anything. My love of reading started before I went to school, and I can remember getting into trouble because I read with a flashlight under the covers at night. I would have loved a kindle or an ipad as a child. I love them as an adult! lolI look forward to meeting new reading friends and discussing great books with you.
Hi Connie. Welcome to the group. We've got some interesting reading challenges running, and various group reads and buddy reads. Hope you'll join in and look forward to chatting with you.
Hello, everyone! I'm Monica from Taiwan. I read just about anything, but mostly I read fiction and French classics (because of my studies). I read in Chinese, English and French. Thanks for having me :)
Hi I'm Nazia. I'm in 10th grade.I'm more of a recent Bookoholic :) I love to read. I love the book club as I can find new books quickly as well as the reviews are reallyy helpful.
Hi,My name is Teresa and am an avid bookworm. I read most genres although heavy sci-fi is not for me. Am in the process of putting the house on the market so my reading time is not as great as usual. Still reading though :D

I am now reading Memoirs of a Geisha and am looking forward to the April choices of My Cousin Rachel and either The Moonstone (new to me) or Madame B (a re-read of one of my favourites). My "to read" pile is absurdly large and my kindle is even groaning under the weight of the downloads.... My ambition this year is to finally read Wolf Hall. I have it sitting on the shelf actually STARING at me.
