Hello! I'm Melissa, and my "in-person" group recently disbanded so I thought I'd join this group to be a part of discussions on great books. I've been struggling to find books to read lately, and this looks like a good place for me to get inspired.
Thanks for the welcome, Paul. I lean towards contemporary fiction, but I also have a strong interest in classic works from Jane Austen and the Brontes and some 20th century authors like Steinbeck. I’m also trying to read more non-fiction and get away from the thriller/mystery reads I’ve been tearing through lately!

I am intending on reading more Steinbeck this year. If you are looking for non fiction recommendations have a trawl through my shelves and reviews.

Hi Everyone, I joined the group when I signed up for the 2015 challenge full deck and am about to start the dusty shelf challenge too (such a good idea). I've read the The Picture of Dorian Gray and Jerusalem: The Biographyfor the January reads but didn't get on with the Luminaries.I'm looking forward to starting To the Lighthousefor the Feb classic (always meant to read some Virginia Woolf)but am reading Howards End Is on the Landing: A Year of Reading from Homenow to start the dusty shelf.....
Hi my name is Lesley and I live in Kent,England. I read mostly fiction but lime to read non-fiction too.
Hello, I am the author of Everyone Has Their Little Secrets, a coming of age, young adult book about a 13 yr old girl. For every action, for every choice, there is an equal and opposite reaction. Everyone Has Their Little Secrets
Welcome to Book Vipers Michael. We don't normally allow authors to self promote their books. Sorry.
Hi all! I'm Jessica (or Jess) and I live in West Virginia, USA. I like almost all genres (aside from Romance), but tend to lean towards YA and sci-fi. I'm hoping this group will help me branch out a bit with my choices. :)
Welcome to BV, Lesley, Michael and Jessica. It's a lovely place to hang out and chat and more importantly find new reads and authors x
Hi Everyone,I'm a stay at home mom of three- the oldest just started college and I homeschool the other two. When I'm not cleaning, doing laundry, or reading, I write. I finished my first book last year and am working on the second. (Is this okay to mention? I have nothing to promote; I won't even be looking for an agent for at least six months.)
My GR's goal is to read 400 books this year- and 400 is about normal for me since I have children to chase around. (How do I read so much? I get asked this a lot and the answer is I read quickly and don't watch TV, do FB/Twitter, etc.)
I joined your group because I noticed that you have a monthly non-fiction BOM and very few groups do. I hope to be joining you in March for that group read and for The Miniaturist.
Hi, I find this group very supportive of personal reading and reading goals. It's great that you have writing aspirations along with being a mom. I'm not a writer, but a mom of three who loves to hear about new books and how they affect those who read them. Welcome!
Hello fellow readers. My name is Anne and I love reading many different types of books. I love that your monthly reading goals include different genres.I have a degree in English Literature and have always loved not only reading but discussing books.
I look forward to discussing the March books with everyone! Happy reading!
Welcome Bella. Hope that you have some success in finding a agent. We generally don't allow self promotion now. We have a fiction, non fiction and classic book each month.
My goal for this year is 190 books.

Thanks for the welcome, Paul. Sometimes, when I'm on my GR's homepage, all the updates for a group- that are visible- are self-promotion by authors. So, I do respect the group's rules about self-promotion and am here as a reader.
Hi Anna and Bella, pleased you're joining us here at BV for jolly chats and all things booky books. Welcome. x
Paul wrote: "Glad to hear it Bella. What sort of things do you like reading?"I like almost all types of books, except erotica and category romances (Harlequin-type books). I love non-fiction and read about 80-100 NF books a year. I read a lot of cozy mysteries, but I guess my favorite books are more literary. And, of course, classic literature. Currently I'm on a Greek History kick, although, I enjoy reading histories, biographies, and historical fiction in just about any time period or place.
Hello, I'm Yasmin, I live in Egypt and I enjoy reading all genres of books. My all time favorite books are crime and punishment, notes from underground and utopia by Ahmed Khaled Tawfik.I look forward to discussing books with everyone and for any good recommendations you might have for me :)
Welcome to all the new book vipers! This is a great group for discovering new books and adding to your reading list. Enjoy!
Hi, I'm Eve. I worked in publishing for many years and have learned to enjoy many different kinds of books. Recently, I published a historical novel and during the course of research and writing, I developed an entirely new perspective on the process. I look forward to learning about new books and discussing them!
Hello Yasmin and Eve, welcome to BV. Look forward to seeing your contributions and always on the look out for new recommendations xxx
Thanks, Yasmin. I see that Laura Lipman has a new book out and I usually enjoy her. Recently loved: Half of a Yellow Sun. The Art Forger, The Hare with Amber Eyes...and much more. Look forward to hearing about new and diverse books. Best, eve
Hello, I'm Saffron. Just joined your group, looking for inspiration to add to my huge pile of reading material. Managed 100 books last year, which took me right up to Big Ben chiming on New Years Eve. Set myself 110 this year so always up for a good recommendation. The Miniaturist is on my to read list and as you are reading it this month, I will push it up the pile.
