Welcome to Book Vipers Charlotte. We have our own challenge here too that you are more than welcome to join
thanks Paul! I love the Magic Square challenge and am hoping to fill all the squares this year. I've so far done the book recommended by a friend (Neil Gaiman- The Ocean at the End of the Lane) and I'm currently reading Les Miserables which I'm planning to count as my book in translation.
it's a good name Elizabeth!!
I think I've accepted your friend request Jazzy?!

Hello, another northerner here (Lancashire). Looking forward to broadening my reading horizons by completing the magic square and reading 50 books in a year.
Hi- I am Sarah. I live in the South East of England which allows me a lot of visits to Dover Castle and Battle Abbey - yep I love my history - esp. The Plantagenets.
Will be starting Mansfield Park soon. I have read all the other chosen books this month. Looking forward to future reads and finding new favourite books :)

Hi I'm Liz, living in Ireland and found this group through Mumsnet! Iv'e two toddlers who are proving quite restrictive of a previous heavy reading habit but I do my best. Have signed up for the 50 books this year challenge, now I just have to stay off mumsnet for a bit and do some reading :) Never been a member of a book group before but have already downloaded various interesting looking recommendations on my kindle from the chat on mumsnet. Here's to a readful 2014 ;)
Hi folks i'm alison. I've just joined after making a resolution to read more this year. I've set a target of 40 books this year. I'm from the north east. Feel free to add me as a friend. I'm currently reading pride and prejudice and longbourn for a group that meets in Gateshead.
Welcome to the group Alison. Pride and Prejudice is one of my favourite novels. Was thinking about reading Longbourn - quite a different view on life in the same house. I'd be interested to know what you think of it.
Hello Alison. My Dad is from Gateshead, but I haven't been for nearly 20 years since my Nana died. I noticed Longbourn too, please do post on what you think of it.
Will do. I'm re- reading p and p first(4th time) as a refresher before starting longbourn. I'm just getting back into reading after a crazy year at work. Nice to meet you all.
Hi Everyone! I'm Ryann, and I'm from Alabama. I'm new to GoodReads, so I don't really know what I'm doing. I know I love to read and I love talking about books.Contemporary fiction is my favorite, but I have a wide range of interests, including Biographies, historical fiction, romance, suspense...the list could go on and on.
Thank you Elizabeth! I was interested about this group because I saw that one of the books being discussed is about Henry VIII. I haven't read that particular book, but I love Tudor history so I thought this might be a good fit for me
It's quite a long book - I'm 40% of the way through it, and am only just at Henry's marriage to Anne Boleyn. Long way to go yet! But it is a very easy and fascinating read. I shall look out for more of Alison Weir's history books. On a slightly earlier historical period, I shall be reading Philippa Gregory's Wars of the Roses novels later in the year.
I'm definitely going to have to get it. Not too long ago I read Six of One by joAnn Spear. It's a bit of a satirical take on Henry's six wives, and was thoroughly entertaining! One of my new favorites.
Welcome to Book Vipers Ryann, I am hoping to start the Henry VIII at the weekend, just have three to finish first...
Hello Ryann - the Group is reading the Alison Weir right through January and February, as it's rather long, but I too am quite excited about picking it up soon. Welcome to the group.

I've been a devotee of hers since I read The Other Boleyn Girl, and I truly loved that whole series.
By the way, in case anyone doesn't know, the series Elizabeth mentioned about the Wars of the Roses is actually called The Cousins' War series (apparently those wars weren't called the Wars of the Roses until a long time later) and begins with The Lady of the Rivers. I just finished The White Princess, the latest book in the series, and enjoyed it. I'm enjoying the whole series ALMOST as much as the Tudor series.
You're right Sally. I knew they had a title but couldn't remember it! I enjoyed the tv adaptation last year. Have you seen it?
I absolutely love The Other Boleyn Girl, but I haven't made it to reading any of her other work. So many books to read, too little time!!

I love reading and enjoy most genres. I'm not keen on crime/ thrillers, but will give most things a go.
I wasn't too branch out with my reading this year, but also get through some of the 200 unread books on my kindle!!!!!
