Thank you Elizabeth, hope that you've had a good Christmas and not been too badly affected by the weather!
Hi - I'm Gail, living in the south east with one small boy. We're both avid readers - I'm a cheapskate though so am generally restricted to whatever the library has on offer :-). Am looking forward to the magic square challenge to get me out my comfort zone!
Hi Gail, welcome to the group. Local libraries have many very keen supporters within this Group, so you are certainly not alone there. We try to make sure that selected group monthly reads are readily available in all formats and, hopefully, from libraries too. Enjoy the challenge, it should bring up a real variety for everyone.
Hi, I've just joined this group, although I've been on the Goodreads website for a while and find it fantastic for deciding what to read next. I now have about 80 books on my to-read list.I live in London and mostly read fiction (I don't do horror either Minnie) with the odd bit of history or science thrown in. I've had quite a few books for Christmas, which I'm really looking forward to reading, but also make good use of three different libraries, borrow books from my children and husband and pick up cheap e books when I can.
I'm keen to do the 50 book challenge in 2014 and really like the magic square idea, so will give that a go too.
Welcome Lizzie. I hope that you enjoy the magic square challenge. What is the 50 book one? My TBR list is quite large...
Thanks Paul. The 50 book challenge is just to read 50 books (or whatever number you decide) during the course of the year. I have my total on my Goodreads home page under "2013 challenge".My to-read list just gets longer and longer. For every book I read from the list I seem to add two more that I want to read.
Hi, I am Ema. I live in Serbia with my hubby and sons. I am a versatile reader I love the magic square idea but it will be hard to find a genre I avoid.

Welcome, I also live in the South East and rely on the library. I regularly use the on line catalogue and can reserve items and suggest book purchases. I also love audio books to listen to in the car and have to reserve these as my own library only has a small stock.
Hi, I live in East Anglia. I am looking forward to the challenge so that I can try new books rather than sticking to familiar territory.
Hello, I just joined a few minutes ago. I'm a teacher and reader in Connecticut. Hope to find some readers and good discussion here!
Welcome to the group, Kathy! You might find the reviews members have written of interest -- aside from the general comments.
Hello all, I'm Erica from Florida. I love reading historical fiction. I enjoy getting good read recommendations from these groups. Thanks for having me.
Welcome to the group, Erica. You might enjoy our non-fiction group read, which is The Six Wives of Henry VIII. It is very readable (more like a novel) - I'm enjoying it.
I'm pretty good at joining groups. Rubbish at posting in them. I like history and historical fiction. Les Miserables by Victor Hugo (also known as 'The Brick') is my favourite book EVER. I seem to read slow, I can't bear to read less than 10 books at a time. More than trying to finish a book, I want to enjoy the journey. The best books are like holidays, you never want them to end.
Jazzy: You are a gal after my own heart: I also read slowly and, if I find a particular passage or image extraordinary, I'll read it over and sometimes just stop and think about it.Welcome!
Hi, I'm Claire,I live in Hampshire and found this group via mumsnet. I'm keen to do the 50 book challenge this year. My favourite type of books are fantasy fiction, currently reading the Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson.

Welcome to the group Claire. I am currently reading Elantris by Brandon Sanderson, and have the Mistborn trilogy to read. We have our own challenge on here too if you are interested.
